In the beginning, the fire represents survival for them to get rescued. William Golding states, ¨...But you can even build huts-then you go off hunting and let out the fire-...¨ (Golding 71). They all set up a plan to have a signal fire and to keep it going at all times just in case a ship comes by so they could see the signal fire and get rescued but when it came time for the hunters to watch the fire they could care less of the fire and let it go out while they went hunting but came back with their first kill and was so excited that didn't really care that they let the fire out. Furthermore, Piggy goes quiet then expresses: ¨You didn't ought to have let that fire out. You said you'd keep the smoke going-¨ (Golding 71). One more time, the…
Throughout the story Arnold, stubby is characterized as a caring, selfless, kindhearted person. Stubby is Maddie's best friend in the story and always has her and his families back. Stubby’s father left his family when he was young, “ Stubbs is a sweetie, raised by a single mom”. This quote is showing that Stubby is a caring person because he loves his family and helps out any way he can. Stubby would also give anything for his family, “ Stubby would give anything for his mom and his sisters”.…
Likewise, based on what Lennie acts likes I can tell that he is a bonehead. Similarly for Curly's wife a feel more sympathetic for her because since they took out her flirts, she kept saying in the book and put a regular girl trying to go about her day to day life. So when She got killed I actually felt sorry for her.…

Vampire stories have been popular for years. One such vampire is Dracula of Bram Stoker’s novel. Dracula drives the plot in many ways, but he is not always the nice guy. Not everyone like him; in fact most are scared of him. Dracula is dynamic, but the antagonist for several reasons. Dracula is evil, scares everyone, and he kills a lot of people.…
As his story unfolds, I can relate more and more to him. Although our experieces are far more extreme. They have similarities that allow me connect with Zeitoun and the book. Zeitoun, is wrongfully accused of a crime he did not commit. He was treated very unfairly, and he eventually got out of it. All those experiences create a link between the book and my past. And that is what makes this book a great…
I can relate to Holden Caulfiled because he refuses to talk about his early life. I do not like to talk about my early life because those memories can be very emotional.…
family, He has impenetrable dreams and a perfect brother named Luke, a secret crush on her…
Because of his actions and characteristics throughout the book I see him as someone I would be willing to follow. Abby proved her honesty and loyalty on many occasions, and she is someone I would trust. Because of Rafa’s noble selflessness he is someone I could count on in a moment of need. Utilizing all of their skills, with Derick in the brave Dauntless faction, Abby in the honest Candor faction, and Rafa in the selfless Abnegation faction, the children are able to defeat their enemies and save the captives. Abby and her honesty end up showing her former roommate that she does in fact deserve to be at Cragbridge hall. Derick’s bravery proves vital in saving his parents and grandfather. Finally, Rafa and his selfless assistance play an instrumental role in helping the twin’s quest. The book teaches us that by utilizing the characteristics of a whole team they can achieve the seemingly…
John Proctor is a very dynamic character in the Crucible. He is someone who appears to be righteous to the general public/townspeople but is actually someone who harbors a deep secret: he has committed adultery with Abigail. Proctor is one of the few in the play who firmly believes that Abigail and the girls are frauds and he is strongly against the witch trials. He knows that once he confesses to committing adultery, Abigail’s testimonies will be questioned and that he can save a lot of innocent people, but he is afraid of tainting his reputation of being a righteous man. At the end of Act III, he is found guilty of witchcraft and is arrested; in Act IV, he is given the chance to “confess” and save himself from hanging. He does end up confessing for Elizabeth and his children. However, when Danforth tells him to sign his name, Proctor agrees. Proctor no longer has his soul; his reputation is gone; all he has left is his name. He proclaims that “[he] cannot have another [name] in [his] life” and refuses to “sign [him]self to lies” to save himself (Miller 1333). He seems to have issues with his pride and his pride gets in the way of him saving himself. Although he admits he is not a hero, he dies with his integrity intact and his name still his. Arthur Miller displays how far people will go to keep their reputation and name clean through John Proctor’s character.…
Christopher changes over to the topic of how misleading signs could be since signs aren’t specific enough. He uses an example of a sign that says, “Keep off grass.” Christopher believes the sign should read keep off all grass, or keep off grass in park. He then gives more examples but one example that he uses caught my attention was, “Thou shalt not kill” yet, crusaders and wars say otherwise. I believe signs and statements like this could be confusing especially for Christopher because he isn’t old enough to understand morals, values and ethical indifferences whether he has a condition or not.…
My essay is about the power of siblings. Both in The outsiders and my essay Siblings bond over death or the thought of death. In The Outsiders Ponyboy and his brothers, including the greasers bonded over the death of his parents and Jonny, their good friend. It’s sad but true, people tend to get closer when they realize how short life is. My brother and I bonded over the fact that we would have to help my mom together. Being able to have someone there for you can give you a sense of safety because believe or not the closest person in your life should be your sibling. I feel bad for people who don’t have older siblings or lost them because they will never know what it’s like to have someone who already went through what you’re going through.…
In the play Macbeth, one notices many times where one can jump to conclusions about what someone says or their actions. “Things are not always as they seem; the first appearance deceives many.” This quote is said by Plato. This quote is very broad and one thing that one can take from it is that one shall not judge a book by its cover. In today’s time period people tend to jump to conclusions about someone or something. In William Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth, the theme things are not always as they seem is shown through Macbeth, Lady Macbeth and the witches.…
Of all of the characters in The Outsiders I relate the most to Johnny because he is sweet and quiet, but when it comes to my friends I would do anything for them. I think Johnny and I connect to him because we come off as nice and would not hurt a fly, but everyone has something or someone they would die or kill for and Johnny and I would both kill for our friends. I think Johnny is so content because he has a lot of things happened to him though. Like someone jumped him and his parents are really mean to him. I don't have that in my life, well not as bad and nothing to do with my family. But a lot of things have happened to make me so quiet and content, like Johnny. All and all I think that I am very much like Johnny.…
Can you relate? There is a story about a young man who lost his younger brother, Allie, and it caused a huge impact on him that no one saw coming. This young man's name is Holden Caulfield. The novel The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, is about a troubled young soul trying to find himself. Depression, confusion, loneliness, isolation, and fear are what Holden is feeling through this book. These feelings are contributing to his offbeat behavior. Holden is a vigorous liar, but is curious. Holden is not sure what he wants in life.…
