The community has different myths and stereotypes on different genders on different genders. For example, the men are placed to in the top and respected positions in the society something, which is not the case with women gender. This is viewed as a way of limited the rights and liberty of women. “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell is an example of the major components of inequalities that are common in the society. We get to learn that Mrs. Wright and her better late half are enjoined in the different temperaments of society that incorporate gender inequalities. The men in the society undermine the women.     As we enter into the dissection of the novella at Breakfast at Tiffanys, the reader must be skilled to understand ways to interpret this book. This book is multilayered which can direct the reader into different directions based on their beliefs or background. Cultural Context can be described by a person’s upbringing and cultural background. This includes referral to the person’s thoughts, opinions and feelings that result from experiences they have had. As the author of this paper, it will be my focus to correlate the book to the ideology of Separate Spheres. This is defined by Wikipedia as separate spheres for women and men. Culturally located in Europe and North America, it emerged as a distinct ideology during the Industrial Revolution, although the basic idea of gendered separation of spheres is much older. The notion of separate spheres dictates that men, based primarily on their biological makeup as well as the will of God, inhabit the public sphere – the world of politics, economy, commerce, and law. Women's "proper sphere", according to the ideology, is the private realm of domestic life, child-rearing, housekeeping, and religious education. The separate spheres ideology presumes that women and men are inherently different and that the sex differences as well as the resulting separation of spheres are "natural".1 Therefore, though this text can be interrupted in many different fashions, it will be the focus of the author of this paper to focus on the separate sphere theory.…

    Many female writers write about women’s struggle for equality and how they are looked upon as inferior beings. Kate Chopin and Susan Glaspell exhibit their views about women in many of their short stories. In the short stories “The Story of an Hour”, and “Desiree’s Baby”, Chopin seems to want to address how oppressive treatment on the behalf of men, husbands affects women, wives. In Glaspell’s, “A Jury of Her Peers”, the relationship between men and women imply the oppressive attitudes that men portray of women and their standings as people. Elaine Hedges stated that this story was known for its “challenge to prevailing images or stereo types of women” that society had on them (250). Analytically, the commonality of theses three short stories seems to be these women acting upon the unbearable circumstances, whether it is toward themselves or their oppressor. In many of their works the idea that women’s actions are driven by the men in the story reveals that men are oppressive and dominant and women are somewhat vulnerable, naive and sensitive. Louise Mallard, Desiree Aubigny, and Minnie Foster shared one thing in common: they are the wives of oppressive husbands. Theses authors seem to also show that the women of these stories undergo a transformation from dependent and weak to stronger women free from their husbands in the end. So in the end, due to oppressive male dominance, and a patriarchal society, death is the unconventional outcome for these three characters in some way or form.…
