I can connect the part where Macbeth kills King Duncan to myself on a personal level. King Duncan respected, honoured, and even saw Macbeth as a friend. I know this because King Duncan describes Macbeth as a “Valiant cousin, worthy gentleman” in Act 1 Scene 2. Because of this perspective that King Duncan had of Macbeth, he most likely would have never guessed that Macbeth would be the person to conclude his life; however he was wrong. This relates to my as I have often been let down and deceived by ‘friends’ who, specifically, spilled deep secrets or backstabbed. In the beginning, Macbeth is referred to as a ‘valiant cousin’ and ‘worthy gentleman’, however, after murdering King Duncan and many others, purely out of greed, Macbeth is labelled as a ‘tyrant’. I can relate this to myself - there have been certain events and situations in my life that has had a huge impact on the way I act, think, and feel hence making me a completely different person from whom I was a few years ago. Another way I can relate to this is through my own transformation - I am guilty of making decisions which are purely greed driven and, like Macbeth, it benefited me at the time, but becomes a problem in the long run. From this, I think we can learn that it is important to not let greed, or any negative factors, influence our actions as our actions often define who we are or who we become.
Overall, I enjoyed reading the play Macbeth thoroughly. It presented me with many themes and ideas which I can connect to myself and
