In Tuesdays with Morrie, Morrie states, “Love is the only rational act” (Albom 52). Morrie believes that love is the most important thing one could have. He does not fear showing his emotions to Mitch, for example. Mitch refers to Morrie as “coach” and Mitch is his player. Morrie is Mitch's life coach and helps him to understand to slow down and enjoy life while he can. Morrie could almost be thought to be a humanitarian. However, in Night, the loving relationships is much different. Elie must find his humanity to help Chlomo survive. In Tuesdays with Morrie, Morrie becomes sick and there is no cure for the disease. One realizes that sickness does not discriminate against any one person. It takes over whomever it chooses. Morrie does have a positive outlook the on entire process, “Everyone knows they're going to die, but nobody believes it” (Albom 81). Morrie has came to terms with death to continue living life to the fullest. In Night, death is everywhere. Veterans of the camp inform Elie that the camp at that time is paradise to what it use to be. The veteran says, “Back then, Buna was a veritable hell. No water, no blankets, less, soup and bread… We were collecting corpses by the hundreds every day” (Wiesel 70). Death surrounded all the prisoners of the camp.
