Turning Point In American History X

Quite often, people make judgmental comments about others because of their appearance. We are all considered as human beings except the difference in our culture, our beliefs, and our color shape. The 1990s movie American History X, demonstrated the consequences about being prejudgment against other race. Danni and Derek, the main characters as brothers, fought for their belief and ideology against the other ethnicities and immigrants that are supposedly taking too much place in their territory. Actually, those two characters are part of the Neo-Nazi that is composed of skinhead people with their belief of power over other race.

A key turning point in this film that help us realize the point is right from the beginning where we see Derek killing two black guys in cold blood. This character grows with the fact that other race should not be threated it and should not have their right and freedom in America. When he got out of prison, we could clearly see a change in the physical aspect. He was no longer skinhead and now he was wearing long shirts so that people would not see his Nazi tattoos on his chest and all over his arms. His dialogue changed also. He was no longer talking non-sense about the other race. Contrarily, he was prevented his brother from doing the same mistakes he did by telling him to not trust and to stop attending the Nazi party. Derek kept referencing to his past and did not want his brother to be affected by his mistakes. Another point that makes the character change is the fact that he thoughts that all the white in prison will be one group and trustful. However, by seeing another white shaking hands with another race made him understand that he should not trust own race.
