Twilight
- "I 'd never given much thought to how I would die”. “But dying in the place of someone I love seemed like a good way to go." - Bella 's thought on the first lines of Twilight Saga, written by Stephenie Meyer. The narration had also appeared in the first scene of the movie based on this phenomenally-popular novel with the same name, and released November 21, 2008 in North America and December 11, 2008 in Australia. The director Catherine Hardwicke nails emotions of teenagers and stays faithful to the novel to make a romantic-fictional film. The story revolves the love between a gorgeous vampire Edward Cullen (acted Robert Pattinson) and a teen-aged girl Isabella Swan called Bella (Kristen Steward)-“ About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was part of him-and I didn 't know how potent that part might be- that thirsted for my blood. and third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.” Bella is a smart pretty introverted girl moves to small rainny town Fork, Washington from Phoenix to live with her father Charlie Swan. On the first day at Forks High school, she is impressed by five gorgeous, aloof, alabaster-skinned teenage-adult kids of the Cullens: Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie and Eward. They are adopted by Carlisle, a young doctor who married to Esme. More especially, Bella sits next to one of them, Edward, in Biology and realized lots of unusual features from him. After he disappears for a week, he begins to talk to Bella and they become closer. However, Edward 's strange actions, like saving Bella from van crushing by intense speed and strength, which cannot hide suspicion of Bella. As a result, she finds out who Edward and his family are vampires. Eventually, Edward confess the truth about him and tell her avoid him. Although he is a vegetarian vampire, it is very difficult to control himself from her special smell, like heroin: ”I 'm the world 's best predator, aren 't I? Everything

Though I am not an avid fan of the Twilight series, I felt compelled to distinguish the differences between the vampires in each film. I must admit that I have read all five of the Stephanie Meyer novels (only partial of the 5th installment) in the series, and of course, Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Though the novels are separated by a century wide gap, the traditional aspect of the vampire remains nearly the same. Special characteristics of each according to the novels, however, differ greatly.…

The feminist idea was designed to define, establish, and defend equal political, economic, and social rights for women. In the articles Taking a Bite Out of Twilight, written by Carmen D. Siering an assistant professor of English and women’s studies at Bell State University, and Two Ways a Women Can Get Hurt, written by Jean Kilbourne who is an award winning author and educator, the idea of feminism in today’s media is questioned. Seiring writes about a popular book, titled Twilight, and how the main female character of the novel goes against the idea of feminism. Kilbourne, however, writes about how advertising in today’s society is portraying women in a distinctively non-feminist way. Both authors are trying to convey to their readers that women are still being subconsciously shown in a negative light.…

Since the eighteen century, vampire stories have played a strong role of popularity in literature and cinematic environments. The continuous changes of vampires have taken the vampire legend from something feared to something desired. Between Dracula and Twilight it has been over a hundred years. These two novels are a great example of vampire’s evolution. However, both novels have elements of narrative device, they are both written from multiple perspectives, and both were turned into a film. Although Twilight and Dracula are pieces of literature that share a vampire story, there are three important differences that characterize each one.…

However, Meyer’s Edward Cullen and Bella Swan are not simply rewritten versions of Romeo and Juliet. Instead, when comparing these two stories together, the reader can recognize more than the “forbidden love” that occurs between two opposing sides in both books, but they can also use the comparison to understand each character as individuals more thoroughly.…
