1: Duke University Duke University is a private research university. This is in my top 3 because i’m really interested in science. This university is located in Durham, North Carolina. It was founded by Methodists and Quakers in the town that is now Trinity in 1838. The school moved to durham in 1892. Duke university is a private university. This school ,like any others, are expensive. The cost of attendance would be about $62,000. The tuition and fees are about $45,000. The room and Board cost about $12,000. The book and supplies are estimated to be a little over 1,000. Along with this there is other expenses added. They are about $2,500. They do offer different types of financial aid programs. The campus has libraries and museums. They have west, east and central campuses. The west campus is considered the main campus of the University. This is home to majority of the sophomores, along with some juniors and seniors. Most of the academics and administrative centers are located there. The media center is located more in the north side of the campus. The north and the east campus were the original locating of Duke after it got moved to Durham. This functions as a freshman campus and also as a home of several academic departments.
Then student body of Duke contains 6,484 undergraduates and 8,107 graduates and professionals as of fall 2012. Duke received applications where only 11.65% of them were admitted. They received a little bit more than 31,000 applications. Duke was the tenth toughest university to in the United states to get in to according to data from 2010. Duke offers different types of degree and certificate programs. They lead to both master’s (M.A/M.S) and doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in more than 60 programs of study.
2: Appalachian State University
At around 1899 Blanford B. Dougherty and his brother ,Dauphin D. Dougherty, Founded the Watauga Academy. They were so inspired by education. They
