The two theories I gravitate towards in order to be an effective school counselor are Person-Centered and Adlerian. These two theories are important to me, because, Adlerian therapy deals with issues revolving family and birth order and Person centered is very self directing. These are powerful theories that I connect too, because I grew up with several siblings and the importance of being genuine and empathic, were values that were instilled in me. The structure and foundation of a person's mind is based on experiences throughout their childhood. I grew up with a brother and two sisters,I was the middle child, and we were and still are each other's best friends. My parents instilled in us the importance of being their for your family, thus our bond became unbreakable and concrete. Looking back at my educational journey I have always found myself helping individuals or finding the balance in a situation. In high school two of my close friends had passed away. My friend Scott, came back from vacation in Europe and contracted meningitis, he passed away the night he got back. His mother contacted me through facebook and explained what happened. My good friend Josie died of an overdose after having a mixture of drugs in her system. Scott's death was unstoppable, however Josie's death could have easily been prevented. After dealing with both loses I knew I had a passion to assist people who are facing monsters in their life. Witnessing the effects this played out on my peers, instilled in me further the desire to help others. I was also in high school and throughout college I was highly involved in an organization called MEChA(Movimiento Estudiantes Chicanos De Azlan). It was a student movement
