Ubiquity In The Diary Of Anne Frank
Although family members love each other dearly each member has a trait that is special to them. The Diary of Anne Frank authored by Anne Frank, a memoir, depicts Anne’s family members with one special trait that is special to them. To lead off, Edith is biased on who is her favorite child. Furthermore, Otto is generous to the kids. In conclusion, Margot is sensible. Foremost, Edith is biased on her choices on who is her favorite child. For example, when Anne is rummaging through one of Margot’s books when Margot is gone, she is not there and Margot comes back with Edith forcing Anne to give the book back making Anne understand, “It’s obvious that Mummy would stick up for Margot; she and Margot always do back each other up” (44). Edith is biased because she always takes Margot’s side no matter what. Also, Edith will never love Anne as much as she loves Margot and as much pride as she takes in her elder child. Therefore, Edith is biased because she always picks Margot over Anne no matter what the situation is. …show more content…
For instance, when Otto is at the dinner table, he is always the last to start eating because he makes sure everyone is served first and Anne declares, “He looks first to see if everyone else has something. He needs nothing himself, for the best things are for the children” (101). Otto is generous to the kids because he makes sure everyone has some food on their plates before he helps himself. Also, his philosophy states that the best parts are for the kids and the kids only because they need to survive and be healthy. Moreover, Hence, Otto is generous to the kids because he serves himself after the best parts have been tucked away onto the children’s

Otto Frank was probably the most generous and calm person of the "family." Otto Frank was a devoted father and husband while in hiding. He helped the children by tutoring them and helping them with schoolwork. He not only helped Margot and Anne, but he offered to help Peter, the Van Daan's son. Otto Frank was intelligent when it came to helping the kids. He tried his best to make them understand. He also had a very good profession, which happened to be right below the annex. Another important characteristic of Mr. Frank was that he was modest and fair. As Anne says from her diary, "(Father) is the most modest person at the table. He always looks to see whether the others have been served first. He needs nothing for himself; the best things are for the children. He's goodness personified." Otto Frank paid back the debts to Mr. Van Daan. He is always doing what he feels is the right thing to do, always returning the favor. He makes sure that the family divides everything up equally among them, always referring to himself last. "He walks around with his lips pressed together," as quoted in Anne's diary. Lastly, Otto Frank is very hopeful and courageous when it comes to raising the family. After the first thief…

Anne always liked the attention to be on her, she loved the spotlight and cameras. One day Anne looked out the window and saw a camera the started acting up, posing, and being funny. Margot knew she was the more liked one, the favorite child, the smarter or less tense one. They were going over grades, Father told Anne her grades and in a smart way said ¨What about my grades Father?¨ and of course her were better. Peter was the only teenage boy so he acted different and in a way flirted around the girls and didn´t act normal. He kept calling Anne ¨Miss Quack Quack¨ in a flirty way not even thinking he was hurting her feelings.…

    | Anne says this in frustration after Mrs. Van Daan yells at her for spilling milk on her coat. This expresses another Anne because it suggests that Anne sees herself changing, that she envisions a different self. I feel that Anne says this because to her, everybody in the Annex shows more favoritism to Margot then her, especially her mother. On the outside it seems Anne can’t always control her temper, as she strives to be more like Margot, who is patient and calm. On the inside, she is jealous of Margot, wanting to have more of an attitude like hers, and convey a better personality to others, contrary to what she’s done. Also Anne is younger, so it is understandable that she'd look up to an older sibling. I can relate to this because many times in our family, I feel as if my parents favor my older sibling over me. I have the same feelings as expressed in this quote, as it is hard to be more mature than somebody older. This quotation suggests change in Anne, as she herself wants to change, and be more socially civil rather than her normal self. Though it conveys negativity on Anne’s character, as she is losing her temper, it also shows maturity, as she is maturing. This quote shows that she is maturing because she now realizes her impact on others, and wants to be more like Margot, who is quite a role model to her. Some questions that occurred were: * Will Anne keep maturing as she is already? *…

The reason for this behavior is that the children's envy of Margot poisons their mind and makes them feel like Margot has something they do not have, which is seeing the sun, and they need to make it even and not let her see the sun; the children therefore exhibiting Hammurabi's "Eye for an eye" policy by locking her up. The children stuffing Margot in the closet displays the "State of War" nature in humans, for the jealousy in the children is making them feel like Margot is intentionally hurting them which makes them display an act of revenge by locking her in the closet, resulting in a "State of War". The children's behavior to Margot displays multiple acts of cruelty which buds from their jealousy towards her, showing us that society must change their views on new ideas and different types of people, and only then can we as humanity take a step to making our world…

His attitude is "I've no business to think so, unless I act so, too." Editha's falsity lies in her desire to pretend that things are real. She not only clings tenaciously to a false belief about war, but also to a false belief about the human response to reality. She clung tenaciously to her version of a romantic concept because it satisfied her sense of her own role in the romance. Her version avoided the genuinely difficult inquiry for a true belief in relation to the war. Despite the fact that Editha’s false believe is obvious to the reader, her mother and to George, she still decides to ignore the…

When I first started reading the book I had a hard time following it, I think it was because I just didn’t understand his style of writing at first. I think part of it may have been his use of words too. I didn’t really care for the term “monkey mind”, I felt that it was very redundant and became very distracting to me throughout the book. I also felt that he was self-indulgent throughout almost the entire book. Also, I felt like he put his daughter and wife on the back burner in his endless pursuit of liberation. I had made a note of this upon my reading the book. I then scribbled it out thinking that it may have not been important in the paper, but the book later pointed out that he realized his neglect of his daughter and wife in his pursuit to the answers of American Buddhism. I’m sure that Dinty Moore would assert that it was not selfish however, since we are all one and the same and there is no definite separation of individual except in the mind. I think overall it was a good book though; he made a lot of good points that seem very relevant in my life at the current time which I though was very interesting. He points out that instead of focusing all time and attention on retiring, and getting that certain job, or certain promotion; one needs to focus on then here and now, the little things of life. This really applies to the fact that I get so caught up in my work schedule at Chili’s and feel like if my boss changes my schedule it is a reflection of my performance and is enough to make me not even want to get out of bed. Reading this book actually helped me see things as minutiae, minor details, and I actually laughed about my work situation. I get so caught up in grades and work that life will pass me by if I’m not careful. The fact is the manager was giving me a break because I work six days a week and he knows how much I put into my academics as well; it…
