The 1800’s legal education and licensing requirements pales in comparison when pitted against today’s academic and accrediting process for lawyers. Today’s curriculum demands more from the students. Scott Turow stated that his first year of law school left him mentally and physically exhausted (Neubauer & Meinhold, 2013). In sharp contrast, Abraham Lincoln believed that one could join the legal world by simply reading a few selected books. However, today anyone can become a lawyer as long as they meet the minimum requirement such as graduate from college, pass the LSAT and apply to law school (Neubauer & Meinhold, 2013). In contrast only the social elite were allowed to become lawyers in the 1800’s. Nevertheless both time periods offered night…

Countless hours of reading cases, outlining briefs, and thorough but excellent professors. Scott Turow is the author of ten best-selling works of fiction and two works of non-fiction as well, one being One L. Marquette is ranked No. 63 by high school and private independent school guidance counselors in 2012. It’s located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marquette is known for its outstanding academics, and varying majors. Additionally, Marquette is a Catholic Jesuit college, which means there are a lot of spiritual bases in finding God in everything that is done. This means in education we can find some inspiration to do better and be better, no matter what is one’s faith or traditions; the common ground for almost everything is education and its importance. With a degree from Marquette comes a lot of bragging rights, and is highly looked upon. When applying for a job Marquette stands out on a resume over most universities and colleges. Marquette is one the best universities offered in Wisconsin besides UW Madison. I believe I would like to further my first class education with Marquette because of great programs offered and the greater spiritual background received with a degree.…

Baylor University was a male school, In 1866, The Baptist State Convention of Texas founded the female department, Baylor Female College. The Great Depression, plus a disastrous fire in 1929 brought the college to the edge of bankruptcy. At this time, Mary and John G. Hardin saved the college with a generous gift. In gratitude the college changed the name to Mary Hardin Baylor in 1934. Since Baylor is associated as a Baptist Christian University. When I was in the second grade I came up with the plan that I was going to study law. As I grew older, I always believed that it was just an idea I had and it would blow over. One time when I was in middle school, I thought maybe I would go into fashion. I dropped that quick and went back to the idea of law. Realizing that I took so much interest in it, I decided to spend a summer studying about it just to make sure it was what I wanted to do. I ended up going for summer of 2014 to Georgetown University where I took a 3 week law course where I went over several cases and had to present my self. I learned about the many types of law and suddenly realized that because of how much I love sports, that sports law would be perfect for me. One thing that pushed me into looking into sports law was the NHL lockout in 2012. After 1991, there had been four lockouts. Another thing was the issue of concussions in the NFL. This made me interested in it because the NFL believed that they were doing their best to cover expenses and not need to go to court while formers players thought it wasn't enough. Not only that, but soon there suddenly started to be more cases within sports teams there was death, abuse, injuries and crimes. Through out my life I have lived centering my life around sports. This is why I believe this would be the perfect fit for me. To further enhance my knowledge on this, I will be traveling this upcoming summer to UCLA, to do another 3 week program solely based off sports law. I hope that at the end of this project that I will understand more of the major topics in sports law on and prepare myself for my program in the summer.…

Dating is nothing new. It has been around for as long as anyone can remember. Ask your parents and your grandparents and they will tell you the same thing. The principles remain the same, only the particular situations and perhaps the “methods” have changed. In college, the dating scene is even more dynamic. People who are almost adults – but not quite yet – are thrown into a pool of opportunity when it comes to interacting with the opposite sex. At this time in our lives, we are probably getting nearer to the point where we might actually seriously consider settling down with someone else. Of course, that is not the sole reason for dating. For many college students, dating is merely something fun to do. And why not? With so many other people that you can meet, it is always a pleasure to spend time with them. In the days prior to the Internet as a common tool for everyone, possibilities for dates were limited to having someone introduce you to another person, meeting someone at the bar, and other similar instances. With the revolutionary effects of the Internet on our lives however, dating has taken on new heights – people can start dating online.…
