What 3 things did you learn from this article that has given you more insight or understanding about doing business globally? 1) I learned that Foxconn, one of the leading manufacturers for Apple products has been involved with multiple scandals over the year in regards to working their employees over hours and also having children ages 14 and under work without a working permit however they have not been hit with hefty fines.
2) I learned that conditions in manufacturing sites overseas are not beneficial for the employees and that interns are worked extremely hard in China.
3) Big companies feel that they have the ability to hide things from government because they are so successful such as working their staff overtime to fill in staff shortages. Fraudulent business is a lot more common in enterprises overseas.
What 3 questions do you propose for class discussion?
1) Do you believe it is fair for interns to be overworked without extra pay?
2) What do you believe government’s punishment should be on a company such as Foxconn since they have been in the news multiples times in regards to overworking their staff.
3) What age do you believe should be the minimum age to work in a country such as China
