I have been planning goals for myself since I was in the 7th grade. Some of those goals have already been accomplished and what joy has come over for me for making my dream goals reality. These goals change all of the time, from my major, to colleges and even where I want to reside after I graduate college. I have narrowed down my list though to a few more goals.…

I want to transfer to Spelman college because it is time to make my dream tangible. My time during community college has molded me into an esteemed well-rounded student. Now my journey here has come to an end and I am ready to utilize all the skills and traits that I have developed when I transfer. I have obtained leadership and interpersonal communication skills, as well as efficient study habits. Also, I have worked with many children that I constantly encouraged to strive for more; regardless of their environment or circumstance. I want to transfer to Spelman to be an example to the children of my community. I want them to know that it is possible to keep pushing even when they are at their lowest because good fruit will eventually bear.…

My goals for this class is that I want to understand more about how people feel about ethics and if they want to change them. If they want to change them, then why do they want to change them, and what would they change them to. My only fears are that maybe the instructor does not put enough information out about the assignments on what should be done. That even after I contact the instructor and ask questions that I believe will help clarify the assignment, I still will not understand the concept behind the assignment and how I should go about writing or completing it to get the full credit on the assignment.…
I’m attending Monterey Peninsula college on a short-term basis Until I transfer to a four year university. Education in my family has never been an option and I have always been pushed to further my education. I myself value my education because it will enhance my knowledge of whatever career I decide to pursue. Learning in general to me has always been important, I love discovering things I’ve never been introduced to or heard of before. Like Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”. I chose to attend MPC to explore my options and figure out what career I want to pursue. One of my short-term education goals is to get good grades in all of my classes this semester (my first semester of college) and to create my ideal career plan. A long-term goal of mine is to complete all of my…
How would this research experience help you to meet your educational goals? (approx. 250-300 words) My educational goal is to enter medical school, and most schools search for applicants that have done research. The primary reason is that engaging in research shows that the applicant already has a high level of knowledge of performing in a lab setting, which I should earn if I want to be competitive amongst my peers.…

This year I experienced some major life changes that caused me to re-evaluate my life. I finalized a lengthy divorce proceeding; I lost my job, and I moved to San Diego, California. These events may have caused some people to feel hopeless, but they motivated me to make some life changes. I enrolled in the BSBA program with a concentration in accounting at Walden University in order to finish the degree I started 8 years ago. I have learned that goal setting is important in order to achieve success in life. For me to attain the future that I see for myself and my family, I set academic and personal goals. In this essay, I will discuss my academic goals and my personal goals. I will also discuss how these goals connect to my degree program. My academic goals are significant to the achievement of some of my personal goals. One personal goal is to start my own accounting firm for small business owners. Before I can achieve that objective, I need to focus on my academic goals.…
The initial concept of establishing educational institutions was proposed with the intention of preparing students for the struggles and complexities of later life. However, today competition between students in modern educational institutions has risen to such heights that while striving to attain exemplary grades, we seem to have lost sight of the primary purpose of education. Instead of preparing students for life 'outside the classroom', educational instructors seem to be more intent on filling their students minds with the material contained within certain prescribed text books rather than encouraging them to think, discover and understand the material for themselves. Brazilian educator, Paolo Freire categorized this 'filling of students minds with material' under a concept of education that he termed the 'banking' concept of education, where the educators simply 'deposited' information into the minds of their students - "education thus becomes an act of depositing (information), in which the students are the depositories and the teacher is the depositor." (Freire 318)…
I am working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Interactive Media Design. I chose this because it combines two things that I am highly interested in – technology and creativity. I also researched the percent increase in jobs in the field over the past few years, which was higher than several other programs I looked into.…
In my early years I moved from state to state. It was difficult at times to find my niche or friends that shared the same values as myself. When my family settled down in Virginia it was hard to find what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I did not have many friends in high school which channeled my energy in my studies. I graduated high school with an advanced diploma and an energized spirit for college even when I was not quite sure if I still wanted to pursue my major of Economics. I knew when I entered college that I was going to make new educational goals for myself. One of my major goals was to make the Dean's list for most of my semesters. Now two years into college I have meet this goal every semester. For these two years I have…
The focus of my educational experience is at the middle school, sixth through eighth grade level. I chose this level because I feel that these are very impressionable years for our youth in today’s society. The typical age group during this time period ranges from 10 years old to 13 years old, and this is when most children start to form their own identities as they begin the transition from adolescents onto teenagers. This is also when they begin to experience a great deal of peer pressure and outside distractions as they become more in tune with the myriad of influential media outlets in society. Given these factors, I feel it is imperative to create diverse, enhanced, and consistently fair educational opportunities at the middle school level…
