Paramecium is part of the alveolates clade, which is a clade that has sacs called alveoli to support the structure of the cell. The Paramecium is a freshwater
bacteria and is hypertonic to the environment they are in. Since the Paramecium is hypertonic to the environment they are in they have to release excess water and they excrete the water via the contractile vacuoles. Paramecium is part of the group ciliates because of the cilia that is present at the exterior of the cell. The cilia are hair-like projections that helps the Paramecium move by locomotion. The Paramecium has a macronucleus that controls the cell’s activities and the micronucleus that is responsible for reproductions via fission. The Paramecium engulfs their food from the oral groove via endocytosis and excretes the waste with the anal pore. The diagram shown is shows the structures of the Paramecium.
