Promote creativity and creative learning in young children
Outcome 1 Understand the concepts of creativity and creative learning and how these affect all aspects of young children’s learning and development
1.1 Analyse the differences between creative learning and creativity
Creativity is all about helping children develop their imaginative skills through exploration of different materials and ways of expressing themselves, for example this can be methods like dance, building and also traditional creative methods like painting and drawing, story time, puppets, circle games and others. Creativity is all about allowing children to express and explore themselves and take risks in doing so. This doesn’t necessarily have to be in a proper way but could be simply their own play, for example their role play is an expression of their creativity. And doing all that, during this process creative learning happens. Creativity helps for child to develop their social, physical, intellectual, emotional and communication skills. Gives opportunity for children to express their feelings. For example if child feels sad or happy, he can express that in his drawing and then someone has opportunity to ask him how he feels about it. Role Modelling: Children learn from watching and being with adults who are being creative. Creativity as a process- these theories look at how new ideas emerge. One of the earliest theories was put forward by Graham Walla who proposed a five stage model.
1. Preparation initial thoughts about a problem
2. Incubation: Time spent thinking unconsciously about the problem 3. Intimation: An awareness that an answer is within grasp
4. Insight: Conscious awareness of the answer
5. Verification: the solution is then worked
