In many cases, it’s bullying, and bullying can at times end with the one being bullied taking their own life due to severe depression. At this point, I think the author’s overall intended message was that making fun of someone’s looks can have a very serious effect on the person’s life and their self-image. The reason I chose this text is because I was bullied as a kid for being heavier. Bullying can include making fun of one’s looks, which still happens today with devastating results of suicide.
