D1 The expected stage of social development of aged 4 years are: They are more independent, they can do most things most things by themselves for example wearing their jacket by themselves. A four year old child will also start becoming independent from their parents, making loads of friends and not relying on their mum and dad, by learning how to play games e.g puzzles. They grow in confidence as they are able to make friends by themselves and play with other children. They show social skills, for example they share toys and care for each other. Strong emotions are still felt and quarrels and temper tantrums occur at times. At this time children start to play with members of their own sex, which may contradict to their understanding of gender roles.
D2 The expected age of social development of children aged 5 years are: they play with each other and other children without help from adults, they are more independent, they are able to communicate feelings and wishes, they also understands the need for rules. They understand the difference between right and wrong. They also makes strong friendships, they are able to get dressed by themselves without no adult help unless the cloth is difficult to wear. When they are happy they become very proud of the work they have achieved, behaving for the day and trying their hardest they receive a sticker/award and feel the need to tell everyone. They look for encouragement and praise as they feel valued and special, so that achieving tasks will bring their confidence to a high and they become a more positive person. A 5 years old express their feelings in different ways, their emotions fulfil and they are able to show how they are feeling more confidently, When they are sad, they tend to try not to cry and are sometimes able to tell someone their problems.
