21st century Revolution?
We wouldn’t want another war, would we? Not something like the russian revolution?People today, in the 21st century need to read animal farm in order to be prepared for a revolution or to stop one from happening. In animal farm it starts with unhappy animals rebelling against their “leader” and creating and new system where every animal is equal. Napoleon uses this power to get the power and things he wants, changing the commandments to suit his needs. In the end animalism failed and the pigs took over the farm becoming humans.

power.
Animal Farm has transcended or beat the original context of the russian revolution and Joseph Stalin, making it still relative to the readers today.
Napoleon is seen as a leader that wants power. He changes thing to get the power he wants for his needs.
Throughout the the story we hear about a pig named squealer. He is very persuasive, maybe to persuasive? For example, ..Our leader comrade Napoleon, has stated categorically- categorically, comrade- that Snowball was Jones's agent from the very beginning-yes, and from lone before the Rebellion was ever thought of…
“Ah, that is different! If Comrade Napoleon says it, it must be right”.
Napoleon also changes the seven commandments and he gains more power, quoted from thing part in the story; “ A FEW days later, when the terror caused by the executions had died down, some of the animals remember-or thought they remembered- that the Sixth commandment decreed,” No animal shall kill any other animal” Clover asked Benjamin to read her the Sixth commandment, and when Benjamin, as usual, said the he refused to meddle in such matters, she fetched Muriel. Muriel read the commandment for her. It ran: “No animal shall/kill another animal without cause”.
Snowball in the beginning of the book was a leader just like Napoleon, but then was chased off by Napoleon's dogs. Later on Napoleon blames all the wrongdoing or bad events, were the cause or influence of Snowball. More can be stated from this quote; “Without any further prompting they confessed that they had been secretly in touch with Snowball ever since his expulsion, that they had collaborated with him in destroying the windmill, and that they had entered into an agreement with him to hand over Animal Farm to M.r Fredrick...When they had finished their confession, the dogs promptly tore their throats out,...”.
Language is a huge part of theme. It's starts at the very beginning of the story with Old Major and ends with the evil corrupted pigs.
In the beginning, Old Major gives a speech that eventually leads to the Revolution of Animal Farm.
Old Major give these two quotes; “ Let us face it: our live are miserable, laborious, and short. We are born, we are given just so much food as we will keep the breath in our bodies, and those of us who are capable of it are forced to work to the last atom of our strength;and the very instant that our usefulness has come to an end we are slaughtered with hideous cruelty,”. “Is it not crystal clear, then, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings? Only get rid of Man, and the produce of our labor would be our own. Almost overnight we could become rich and free,”. These two quote show the start of the influence of the animal Rebellion. Major.
After Old Major's big speech, Snowball and Napoleon want to get rid of all the things that reminded them of the humans. “ And shall I still be allowed to wear ribbons in my mane?”, asked Mollie, “ Comrade, those ribbon that you are so devoted to are the badge of slavery. Can you not understand the liberty is worth more that ribbon?” Snowball is basically saying that any trace of clothing or human belonging, is the sign of slavery, which is what the animals do not want. And in order to do that, Snowball is saying it starts by getting rid of memories of humans.
Napoleon has already gained so much power that the other animals are falling for the fake truth that they will have a better future. This is shown through Boxers to slogans; “I will work harder” and “Napoleon is always right”. The second slogan shows that the animals are all for Napoleon. Nothing is wrong about him, this is all due to the percussive language that Napoleon is saying and what he is getting other animals to think.
The Russian Revolution, is not the only Revolution out there. During this unit I also studied the Irland war for Independence. Both had controlling leaders that used some type of language, to protect their power and line as a leader.
In both Revolutions, there was a corrupted leader. In the center of my double bubble map, there are many similarities. One in particular is that Russia and Ireland had corrupted leaders. In Russia it was Joseph Stalin and In Ireland it was Sinn Fein. Both wanted to change their country to their vision. For example in Ireland; “November 21, IRA unites in Doblan launched mass assassination attacks on British intelligence officers, killing 14 men.”Sinn Fein was sending out these assassinations to “protect his country.
Throughout these Revolutions there were arrests. Joseph Stalin arrested news papermen because there were writing negative things about him. But he also killed people to hide secrets that he had and blamed the assassination on different people.
In all the Revolutions, there were attacks. In the Russian Revolution, Joseph Stalin “teams up” with Hitler. Thinking nothing of it, Hitler betrayed Joseph Stalin and invades Russia. Due to this betrayal, Joseph Stalin was left shocked and confused.
Animal Farm is an allegory to the Russian Revolution.
It shows so much similarities to Russian at the time, that people in the 21st century should read it. Not only because it is an interesting novel, but because it could have avoid a “21st century Revolution” like what happened in Russia. An alternative way of changing a corrupt government, is to chose your leader wisely. Listen closely to what they are saying in their debates and there speeches. Look at the deeper meaning of what they are trying to say. If they want to do something ask yourself would they be able to accomplish it or were just saying that to grab your attention. In the future there will definitely be more and more Revolutions will happen. It’s just apart of human nature I guess. There will be success but in order to achieve those successes, people will need to know what they're getting into when there is something like an election. Chose carefully on your leaders and look deeper into the context. Also George Orwell explains it clearly in Animal Farm. Animal Farm should read by people in the 21st century so they have clear understanding of Revolutions and how to avoid
them.
