Learning Objective one:
Understand the purpose of information technology in a business environment

1.1 Identify different types of information technology that may be used for work tasks:
Internet - websites (for selling, for promoting organisation and products or services, for obtaining information, for providing services); social media as used by businesses (Facebook, twitter, email); software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, accounting software, customised software designed for specific industries or organisations, email software with calendar, contact list, copying people in, attachments); printers (colour or black and white); storage media

1.2 Outline the benefits of using information technology for work tasks:
Information technology benefits the business world by allowing organizations to work more efficiently and to maximize productivity. Faster communication, electronic storage and the protection of records are advantages that IT can have on your enterprise. Information technology has to do with computer applications, on which nearly every work environment is dependent. Since computerized systems are so widely used, it is advantageous to incorporate information technology into your organization.

Understand how to manage electronic and paper-based information

2.1 Explain the purpose of agreeing objectives and deadlines for researching information:
To ensure relevant information researched, to save time, to prevent errors, to provide information in required format within agreed timescales, to provide appropriate amount of research, to conduct cost-effective research. 2.2 Identify different ways of researching, organising and reporting information:
Information may be organised in a number of ways depending on the nature of it and its intended audience. For example, it can be organised by:
Date, subject, importance, deadline.
