P1: Explain key influences on the personal learning process of individual
Within this assignment I will be explaining the key influences of personal learning and the impact it has on an individual and also explaining the tow learning theories of Mumford and Honey, and Kolb.
Kolb
Kolb’s theory states that learning entails the attainment of abstract concepts that can be suited to numerous different situations therefore his theory helps us to understand how adults learn. It is said that cognitive abilities is the way that people learn and that between our adolescence and early adulthood (13 – 21 years old) an individual starts to acquire instinctive preferences in the way that they process information and use this information in order to identify our understandings. From this he created the learning cycle process wish consists of four stages.
Honey and Mumford
Honey and Mumford used Kolb’s theory of learning in order to conduct their own styles of learning theory and they also looked at the way different employees learned where they found four learning style preferences which are activists, pragmatist, theorists, reflectors. These four learning preferences each have certain characteristics and with their help it helps to see an individual’s way of learning and which learning preferences are either helpful or unhelpful.
There are numerous different factors which affect a way in which an individual learns a key influence being children which is a positive and negative influence on the way in which an individual learns. It would have a negative influence on someone as they wouldn’t have time to study outside of school/college if they didn’t have a baby sitter. Also, the mother’s time would solely go into the child as they need their full attention, love and care meaning that the mother’s time and effort outside of school/college would be based on them this means that their assignments and homework wouldn’t be up to
