Because of the nature of the religion and the identity of the Unitarian, whom had no set rules and denied the idea of the Holy Trinity and believed instead of progression through reason, Unitarianism was deemed as heresy and those who were Unitarians were condemned to death. (Unitarianism Explained) Several of the religious leaders preached ideas that were contradictory to the Christian Church, and as such were believed to be against the Church. Ideas such as the humanity of Jesus, the origin of the Holy Trinity within the scripture, the support of human equality and the progressive thoughts based on reason caused the Church to believe that Unitarians were heretics, because though UNitarianism is based in Christianity, it deviates from the existing …show more content…
Thomas Jefferson, a Unitarian, influenced the creation of America, and its current ideals through his Unitarian ideas.(Guengerich) Modern Unitarianism continues to influence our world by supporting equality for gender, faiths, sexualites and races. Unitarians provide to the needy and to charity. (Unitarianism Explained) Current Unitarianism thrives through meetings of Unitarians in groups, because there is no formal way to worship nor is there a specific date on which to worship, gatherings bring Unitarians closer; during these gatherings Unitarians compare beliefs and experiences, and offer one another advice. In worship the Unitarian thanks all the world and those around them, because they are aware of their dependence on what the world offers and the dependence humanity shows for all other humans. This gratitude is another focus of the Unitarian, alongside reason, and even the smallest and most insignificant of things is appreciated.
