Luna’s mental impediment was such she could not remember the colors but she remembered it was gothic, “black and white,” she blurted for sake of answering the question.
Magdalene asked, “What church is this for?”
Luna replied, “The Church of Angels.”
Magdalene assured her she knew where this was, “Ooh! The non-denomination. I am familiar with that church. Curiously she continued, “Have you purchased flowers yet?”
Luna sarcastically replied, “That is about the only thing I did correct!” …show more content…
Magdalene laughed, “You are only a nervous bride, give yourself a break.
What is his name?”
Luna felt her feet get cold, so she lied just to get the conversation to move along, “Victor!”
Magdalene was showing her the candles that were assembled, “Here we have the beige with the burlap for the barn look. The peach with pearls for the young lady look. Here is my most Victorian candle, and there is her plainer version.”
Luna did not mean to cut her off but her anxieties were set off again and beyond her control. “This one is fine.” Luna picked the plainer Victorian.
Magdalene observed at how rash she made her decision. She did not even bother to pick it up or observe it. Still she offered, “Would you like us to monogram your initials on it?”
Luna immediately told her, “NO! That will not be necessary!”
Magdalene continued to offer her more, “Here we have another line but these are scented Unity candles.”
Luna missed the part where she thought she had already made her decision, “No, I am fine with the plain one that does not
smell.”
Magdalene was curious to test Luna with a bottle that carried a fragrance. As she sprayed the cologne Luna began inhaling. When her face met the redolence, she had a reaction. Gagging and coughing, immediately after. Magdalene apologized as she was only sampling. She realized what was going on and said, “Oh my God, is its one of those weddings? I best move you along dear. We have not much time to waste with you! What is that next item you needed?” In fear that Luna would hurl all over her store she picked up her gallop and focused her attention on something else.
Luna began to feel relief that her plight was now understood, even if it was a wrongly formulated and dishonest excuse, “Next item was a cake topper.”
Magdalene quickly rebutted, “Get that from the baker so that you can freely pick a cake. I have inventories here in the back, but it would take me forever to show you all of them, and it will force you to commit to one type of cake. Let me have the next item!” Luna had not thought about it that way but it made perfect sense.
Luna belted out, “The couple’s champagne flutes.”
Magdalene grabbed her step ladder, “Follow me, they are in the next aisle. Are you going to want them monogrammed with yours and Victor’s name?”
Luna was short, “No!”
