Unwind By Neal Shusterman
Recently I have read the book Unwind, by Neal Shusterman.It takes place in the future, where there is an abundance of children and over population. Because of this issue, the government decided to create a law saying that you can get your child between the ages of thirteen and eighteen “unwound.” This means that a medical professional can surgically remove your body parts, while you’re still alive, but you never feel a thing. This also means that you are alive in pieces. They then take the parts needed to hospitals or places where someone needs a new arm or leg for example. Therefore they are given yours, so you become a part of them. In this adventure, a troublesome sixteen year old, named Connor Lassiter discovers his unwind papers in his …show more content…
In the woods, he meets Risa and they decide to band together. They then escape the cops and take on new identities and appearances. At one point they even adopted a baby to help hide their cover. While Connor and Risa find an underground railroad for unwinds, Lev runs away and tries to turn them into the cops. This reason being that he felt he failed God for not being unwound like what he thought his whole life was meant for. Connor and Risa end up living through the underground railroad without being caught by the cops. Towards the end they make it to a plane graveyard. This being the final spot for unwinds to live. This graveyard is run by an old army sergeant. He protects the kids as long as they fix planes so he can sell them again. Connor and Risa quickly become top rank officials and begin to take charge. But then one night they outside of the graveyard to save someone together, it being a trap from the cops, and they are caught. They are then sent to a harvest camp, where they unwind people. Coincidently, this camp is where Lev finally had made it. He realizes after seeing his friends again, that he needed to save them, because of what they went through to save so many others.
