First, Christian was running away from home when he found Scarlett in the back of his car. At first, Christian didn’t want anything to do with her. But after hearing her story Christian starts to realize that he can’t leave her alone. Next, Scarlett and Christian are chased by deepthroat and Connor, Scarlett’s captors. Connor and Deepthroat continuously try to capture Scarlett again. Eventually Christian goes to the police and the police sit outside Christian’s house to protect them. Scarlett was able to make contact with a friend from London who came to Oregon to take her home. Scarlett and Christian didn’t realize that the friend who came to pick Scarlett up actually worked for the people who kidnapped her. So, instead of taking her back to London, he took her to Dr. Wyden. Dr. Wyden wanted to do surgery on Scarlett's …show more content…

So he convinces the young secretary, Jenny, to show him around the office. While she was showing him around, Connor and Deepthroat came into the office. Connor shot Jenny. Christian hurried and grabbed Jenny. Before he could get to another room, Connor shot him in the arm. Christian ran into an operating room, pushed a huge chair in front of the door and called the police. The police arrived quickly and were able to shoot Connor, but Deepthroat escaped. I like this part of the book because it had the most action and was the most exciting part of the story. My favorite quote from the book is “Football is a game of two halves.” (Daines, 106) Scarlett says this to Christian. She is telling him that even if your life has been hard all these years, there is always the second half and things can

The Chief goes to talk to McMurphy when he's brought onto the ward again, and finds out he has had a frontal lobotomy, and that he is no longer the rebellious man he once knew. He then suffocates him with his pillow, because he realises that McMurphy wouldn't want to live like this. The Chief then lifts up the wash station, throws it through the window and escapes. This is the climax, because it shows that McMurphy has actually achieved what he wanted to achieve: show at least one other person on the ward that he's got his life in his own hands, that anyone is capable of making his own choices. The system should not be allowed to control your life; you should take control into your own hands. McMurphy is dead, but it wasn't for nothing. His spirit lives on in the…

Planet of the BlindStephen Kuusisto is a true poet. His tale of his journey through a darkened world, is told in words that are not just written, they are painted onto the canvas that is his book. I started off full of pity for Kuusisto. He made me sad for the life that he led. I found the image of him trying to read tragic. With his descriptions, I could just picture him leaning 2 inches above a book, with one eye pointing the wrong direction, and the other jiggling back and forth in its socket. I think Kuusisto intentionally pressures the reader into feeling pity for the majority of his life story. He tries to draw you into seeing how he lived constantly in a state of despair. My heart would ache as I saw him make a fool of himself pretending to be sighted. Time an again I cried out "Just tell people! They will still love you!!!" For some reason I couldn't understand why he wouldn't let people in. Since I had such a hard time understanding it gave me a new sense of what people with disabilities go through. Their thinking must be so different from mine that I can not even imagine.…

When we first meet the narrator he is fearful of his new visitor and what it will do to his family and shows that he does not have very good feelings towards this blind man. The narrator immediately lets us know where he stands by saying "I wasn't enthusiastic about his visit... And his being blind bothered me." (Carver 106). This statement shows a great deal of ignorance in the character and a good sense of short-sighted views. However, he goes to stress that "[His] idea of blindness came from the movies.". He uses the pop cultural reference to blind people to excuse his ignorance, but all he shows to the audience is that he knows only of fictional blind people and has to base his opinion on his visitor from that (Carver 106). With him being a honest character, he does reveal what is truly bothering him is his jealousy of Robert, but initially this information is clouded by the narrator's obsession with Robert's blindness. From that we can actually come out and say that the narrator is blind in the beginning of the story, and he's the one that can't see who Robert is. He even tells us that he has no real understanding of his wife when he mentions her poetry "I didn't think much of the poem. Of course, I didn't tell her that." even though he…

One major theme of The Blind Side was to judge people based on their charter and not on their appearance. When Michael had first started at Briarcrest Christian School the teachers deemed him unreachable. Michael was a sight to behold at school because he was huge and black. I wasn’t until a teacher gave him a test orally did they find out that he was like a sponge that soaked up the information he was given. After teachers found out that he was paying attention they started to reach out and help Michael in ways they were not before.…

Blindness can be interpreted in many different ways. We can speak about blindness in the sense of physical blindness or emotionally blind, even so we can speak about being spiritually blind. In the end, it all comes to one thing, which is that blindness causes you to miss out or not see certain things depending on the subject. A blind man might say he has been blind all his life and has never seen the beauty of a rose but has only smelt the sweet fragrance of it, a devoted Christian might say that one is blind to the love of God who forgives all sins a human makes; a mother who blinded by love does not realize the negative activities her child has been involved in.…
