Ups and Downs of the Roman Empire
I found many reasons for the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, many of them are facts and some were not. The Roman Army was one reason the Roman Empire flourished. " The Roman Army is recognized by historians as an extremely effective fighting machine." (The Roman Army, 2015-2016) Although there is a lot of information about the rise and fall of the Roman Empire many of the things are not really facts, so since I was not there I will have to go by the most important facts I feel is true. Like the men in the Roman Army were taught to kill not just fight, and it is said that there were thousands of the men which were called legionnaires, and the Celtics who were very good …show more content…
at making weapons also aide in making the army the strongest of all armies.
Another reason I found that attributed to the rise of the Roman Empire was engineering, the Romans were very smart, they made roads which I thought was clever because they could patrol all around the Empire. I know that making the roads also enabled them to go from city to city to sell their goods.
One fact I believe is true is that when the Roman Empire separated into Eastern and Western Empires and they each had their own emperors and own ideas that things starting going bad.
It seemed to be that both the Eastern and Western Armies did not have to fight for such a long time that they were no longer strong. Ups and Downs of the Roman Empire
I found another reason for the fall of the Roman Empire which is that they spent so much money on the armies. " Military spending left few resources for other vital activities, such as providing housing and maintaining quality roads and aqueducts," (Fall of Roman Empire, 2003-2017) One reason I felt the Roman Empire failed is because it was so big that it was hard to rule, and then Christianity seemed to be taking over and the Romans were in awe of their old Roman values.
In conclusion I believe that the Romans were such smart people and without them we would probably not have democracy, I believe this is the most valuable thing they did. The Roman Empire was also, very complicated because so many things were being created by the Romans. It would have been a very stressful time to live in, but very interesting.
