Uranus And Neptune Compare And Contrast
There is one main reason that has to do with why Uranus and Neptune are bluer than Jupiter and Saturn. It has to do with the composition of their respective atmospheres. Uranus and Neptune both have atmospheres that contain high concentrations of methane, as the book states. Jupiter and Saturn have atmospheres that have major parts of mostly hydrogen and helium, without the methane. The methane changes things because while it does absorb some light, the light that gets reflected has a blue hue. Due to this reflection, Uranus and Neptune end up looking blue.

There are a few notable differences between terrestrial and jovian planets. Terrestrial planets are smaller in size and mass and jovian planets are larger in size and mass. Terrestrial planets are mostly made of rocks and metals, while jovian planets are mostly made of hydrogen, helium, and hydrogen compounds. This is why jovian planets are nicknamed “gas giants.” Terrestrial planets have solid surfaces which are warmer because they are closer to the Sun. Jovian planets have no solid surfaces and have cooler temperatures because they are farther from the Sun.…

These pyramids took place in the Third Dynasty during 2630-2575 BC. King Djoser commissioned this monumental architecture in Egypt. The designer was Djoser’s prime minister, Ihotep, whose name is inscribed on a statue at the site. The purpose was to hold his mummified body. The Step Pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser's at Saqqara arose as a traditional, flat-roofed mastaba, although in 2611 B.C., by the end of his nineteen-year reign, it had risen to six stepped layers and stood two hundred and four feet or sixty-two meters high, making it the largest building at this time. The Funerary Complex of Djoser is a large pyramid structure that looks like steps with six structures stacked on top of one another, each one decreasing in size. The material used was limestone. These pyramids were usually eighteen hundred feet long by nine hundred feet wide; overall in size they were very large. Below the structure was the underground burial area, which consisted of a small room that held a statue of the deceased and there was a chapel for family to gather. A shaft then led down to the burial area that was sealed after the burial. This structure was west facing towards the setting sun. Under…

The ammonia molecules attach slowly, and in between each attachment, there is a chemical equilibrium. The more ammonia is added, the more complex is formed, as the equilibrium is pushed to the product side. The blue color is the result of the complex absorbing light in the visible light spectrum, and having a concentration high enough for the eyes to detect.…

William Hershal was a telescope maker and with the invention of the telescope was the motivation that led to the discovery. Because the calculated orbit of Uranus did not compare accurately with the observed orbit, astronomers concluded that a disturbing influence was present. A study of this irregularity led to the discovery of Neptune in 1846. (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th Edition. Q2 2016, p1-1. 1p.)…

characteristic did not remain obscure for long, as the underlying property that caused this was already well known in the scientific field. The reason for the ghostly blue hue was Raleigh Scattering. Although the property was originally applied to the blue sky, it was eventually connected to aerogels. It turns out, light is not scattered evenly by the aerogel. Instead, shorter wavelengths are scattered more than the longer ones. As a result, more blue light is scattered compared to the longer wavelengths of visible light. With this conclusion, the ambiguous nature of the physical existence of aerogels became…

Minerva is the Roman goddess of wisdom, trade, the arts, medicine, and war. She most likely originated from the Etruscans, to whom she is known as Menvra and eventually was equated with the Greek goddess Athena. According to myths her birth was quite strange and unusual and although there is some speculation about exactly how she was born it is consistently told that she was born well, more like sprung out of Jupiter’s head. Jupiter the god the sky and lightning had mated with Metis a Titan goddess. However, a prophecy predicted that Metis’ children would become more powerful than the king of gods himself and out of fear to prevent the prophecy from coming true he swallowed her whole, but little did he know that she was already pregnant. The king of gods Jupiter was suffering from a severe headache and after a few knocks on his head Minerva jumped out fully grown and fully armed ready for battle. She was his favorite daughter and gave her the Aegis, a breastplate, the Insignia, a shield, and his lighting bolts as weapons.…

The first astronomical object I observed was two very bright, small, and circular dots which I later learned were a popular binary star named Algeria. At first, I could barely see the stars but after focusing my eye in the telescope I noticed that one star was a light blue shade and the other star was a vibrant yellow color. Additionally, the yellow star was significantly brighter, more visible, and larger than the tiny, dull blue star. When I typically look up in the sky, I notice how most stars have a similar shape and size with the same white color and vibrancy as they twinkle against the background of the night sky. As a result, I was surprised by the distinct colors of the stars which might have been because I have never observed a star through a telescope before.…
