The incidence of urinary tract infection in adult men is very low compared with women.
Here, we report a patient with pyelonephritis. A 59-year old Japanese man presented with the chief complaint of fever and fatigue.
The patient has no previous medical history and no urological abnormality (was observed) in the examination after hospitalization.
Urinalysis and a urine gram stain confirmed the diagnosis of urinary tract infection.
He had recovered with the treatment of ceftriaxone.
Pyelonephritis should be considered in patients in meddle-aged and elderly men with fever (although) as in young women, even if he does not have organic disease as a cause of urinary tract infection.
