Us Involvement In The Cold War

The Cold War was the period between about 1945 and 1990, when the United States of America and the Soviet Union both competed to dominate the world through military might. Basically after World War II the hostility and tension between the United States of America and the Soviet Union (Russia) did not die, and it lasted until the second half of the 20th century, eventually causing much destruction in the world. During World War Two, the United States and The Soviet Union teamed up and formed an alliance, they were known as allies. Both countries fought against the Axis (Germany, Italy and Japan). Not everything between the two countries were always civil, the two had a very tense relationship, they opposed each other.

Ever since the days of being under British control, Americans had long been wary of communism, and in this case Soviet
But as soon as the war ended, and there was no one else left to fight, the Soviet Union decided to test the waters and upset the United States. The Soviet Union was a very selfish country, they were upset with the United States for coming into the war late, which led to the deaths of millions of Russians. Their grievances turned into distrust and enmity.

After the War ended, most American officials agreed to a strategy called “containment”, in hopes that they could contain communism against the Soviet Union. This containment strategy provided arms(weapons) to those fighting with the United States, it also gave the country permission to use military force wherever communism occurred or threatened to occur. In that, A deadly arms(weapon) race began.

Atomic bombs were created, some created in response to other deadly bomb testings from their opponents (such bombs included a Hydrogen Bombs and Super Bombs). A Hydrogen Bomb test created a 25-square mile fireball that vaporized an island, and blew a huge hole in the Ocean
