Vaccination Informative Speech
I am writing to you today to inform you about a matter I feel very strongly about – the importance of vaccinating children, teens, and adults in order to reduce their risk of contracting certain communicable diseases. We don’t often see it this way, but we are a very privileged country. The USA is fortunate enough to be a country that is rich in medical supplies. The other, not-so-developed countries, however, aren’t so fortunate. Diseases such as polio, hepatitis B, and measles devastate many populations around the world to this day. I completely agree with what CDC (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention) has to say about the importance of vaccines and immunizations – certain diseases are becoming rare due to vaccination, and vaccination …show more content…
Not being properly vaccinated can have a pretty awful impact on your overall health. You’re more prone to disease and infections, and this can lead you to fall terribly ill. You may be the healthiest person alive – you may exercise regularly and eat healthy – but if you’re not vaccinated, there’s nothing protecting you from catching a disease. For example, you may go on a plane one day and there may be a man sitting in front of you who has an infectious disease. The people in the plane that were vaccinated are most likely to be protected from this disease (it’s almost like an invisible shield against the disease), and are far less vulnerable to it than the people who aren’t vaccinated. Children are also very prone to catching a disease – which is why they need to be vaccinated on a regular basis. A school environment can be one of the most dangerous environments when it comes to communicable diseases – children are constantly sick, and are constantly spreading that sickness to their peers. To put it simply, if you’re properly vaccinated, you’re not

Did you know that some childhood diseases, such as polio, whooping cough, and especially the measles, have nearly been eliminated in the United States due to the implementation of vaccination (“Lode Tot, Other Cases Prompt Call for Vaccinations” 1)? Unfortunately, these diseases and others like them are now making a comeback thanks to parents who are reluctant to have their children vaccinated. I believe children should be vaccinated because vaccination protects them against sickness, reduces the spread of common ailments, and can protect individuals who cannot be vaccinated.…

One of the controversial/hot topics or issues nowadays in health care in the US and the world as a whole is vaccination. The main purpose of vaccines is to control and prevent communicable diseases. The target is to vaccinate about 99 percent of the population. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “about 1.5 million children under age 5 years continue to die annually from diseases that are preventable via the administration of vaccines, making up approximately 20 percent of overall childhood mortality” (Maternal and Child Health, n.d). The WHO continues to argue with evidence that vaccination can prevent death from pneumonia and diarrhea which are the leading cost of death among children under five years old. Although vaccination…

Women today in 2016 couldn’t last two minutes living the life of a woman in the 1900s. 100 years ago, females were known as the weaker gender but more virtuous and were not allowed to do anything unless they had a husband. They didn’t have any rights, authority, or opinion about ANYTHING! It was illegal for women to do a lot of things, and here we are 100 years later, we can do whatever we want, when we want, however we want without anyone’s permission. To sum things up, a woman is her own boss and controls everything in her life. She can follow her dreams without anyone stopping her and a woman can make her own decisions. Everything…

Although vaccinations have been around for 200 plus years, today in 2013 it is still a most controversial issue. Vaccine by definition is a biological preparation that improves immunity to a particular disease. A vaccine typically contains an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism and is often made from weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its toxins, or one of its surface proteins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaccine). The National Institute of Health says “in other words, vaccines trick your immune system to teach your body important lessons about how to defeat its opponents.” As effective as some may say vaccines are there has been a significant decrease in people actively getting vaccinations yearly.…
