This way, you can have the best of both worlds - have the tabs securely fastened, yet, not leave any tell-tale signs!
Both the hidden ribbons as well as the conspicuous ribbons served the purpose well enough. The former was actually more suitable for thicker fabrics with Velcro-fastened tabs, whilst the latter looked great for the softer kind of fabric and for smaller, fixed-loop kind of tabs.
And the solutions to my wind-swept curtain problem are not limited to these two … Some years later, when the novelty of the decorative ribbons wore out and when I got sick of tying dozens of ribbons after each curtain wash, I came up with another idea - I just used blu-tack to stick the inside of the tabs onto the rod! Creative juices are limitless if we keep them flowing … if we keep challenging ourselves!
The best part of all these solutions is in the cost - about a dollar a year for each window! Affordable to say the least! My experience over the years tells me that this simple piece of paper is a much sought after instrument. This is a somewhat curious phenomenon. To me, such certificates should not have much value, simply because they show merely what have gone in, the inputs, but carries no indication whatsoever as to how well the substance taught has been assimilated. Perhaps, in paper qualification-fanatical Singapore, such certificates are deemed to raise an employee's marketability. Anyway, the WHY of it all is not important. I recognise that it is a customer requirement. And that’s sacro-sanct! So, whatever the reasons for the demand, I have always taken the task of designing this instrument as seriously as I deliver my seminars, courses and training programs. This means that I would like to design a certificate that my participants will be proud to own, will admire like a piece of art, and that will stand out amongst their collections.
