Introduction
Elevator is a platform or an enclosure raised and lowered in a vertical shaft to transport people or freight. Besides that, elevator play important roles in public transportation, moving passengers vertically to above and below grade level. Elevators are the most commonly used mode of vertical transportation in modern buildings.They are generally powered by electric motors that either drive traction cables and counterweight systems while pump hydraulic fluid used to raise a cylindrical piston. According to U.B.B.L ,Clause 124 ; for all non-residential buildings exceeding 4 storeys above or below the main access level at least one lift shall be provided. There are three type of elevator system ;
a. Traction elevator
b. Hydraulic elevator
c. Climbing elevator
