Veterinarian Job Shadow
Job Shadow Report Vets are not in it for the money because there is no money in it; they’re in it for their love of animals and the idea that they are everything. For my research paper I chose to shadow a veterinarian. I Shadowed Dr. Lewis from the Lewis veterinarian clinic in Linden Pa. I saw many interesting things during my job shadow and made many observations. I saw Dr. Lewis put a cast on a dog’s broken leg. I learned that animals tend to get heart worms and fleas more in the winter, and I didn’t learn that through my research but during my job shadow. During my shadow I helped Dr.Lewis give animal’s shots to prepare them for surgery. I also got to help with a pregnant Labrador retriever and I got to see an ultrasound of her puppies. I took many observations and I saw how kind and friendly all the employees were with the animals. I also saw that working around powerful animals such a horse can be dangerous. Overall, I had a entertaining and enjoyable job shadow. To conclude, I very much enjoyed my job shadow at the Lewis veterinary clinic. I saw so many animals and met some pretty amazing people. I have always been interested in becoming a veterinarian and after my job shadow it has made me enjoy the idea of this job even more. I learned so many interesting things and I had so much fun. All in all, I think that a job as a veterinarian could be the right job for me.

First, a career in veterinary technologist and technician would bring me great personal satisfaction. I enjoy working, helping out, and simply being around animals. For example, Julie Legred, a veterinary technician and executive director at the National Association of veterinary technicians in America, says, “We do everything except diagnose, prescribe and do surgery. They often work in private clinics and animal hospitals, assisting veterinarians with the care of animals” ("Veterinary Technologist and Technician"). Without veterinary technologists and technicians,…

Veterinary Technicians, not many people know what they do, but many people have probably met one. A veterinary technician's job is similar to what a nurse, does the technician; talks to pet owners before the vet does, updates files, monitors pets’ conditions after surgeries, administered shots and much more. Another similarity between a veterinary technician and a nurse is that both jobs are in high demand. Many people are trying to finish their degree and get a job of their own before they are all gone, meaning that competition for the job is rising to meet the demand. So how can veterinary technician prepare and present himself/herself to seem above the rest? Simple! By understanding what the job will entail and preparing to do the job in…

It takes effort for one to achieve a dream and obtain that self-satisfaction, and understanding the road one must take to become a veterinary technician is just as important as understanding the road one takes after achieving it, because new and exciting paths open up after that goal is reached.…

Before this shadowing experience, I knew that pursuing a career in medicine is something that I was interested in, but I never had a real experience to examine a typical doctor's life. After the first week of shadowing, I started getting a sense of what it is to be a doctor. Becoming a doctor is not something easy. Every time I went to the office, there was a big list of patients that doctor Eloy had to meet. He had to be careful about the way he acts and the way he talks with patients, nurses, and other doctor. Even though it seemed so hard at the beginning, I enjoyed this experience and I learned a lot from it. I learned that being a doctor requires more than going to medical school. Medical school is just the first step. I learned that a…

Being a Veterinarian is a lot of work but I'm sure I could work with that. It does take many years of study and things like to memorize facts to get into veterinarian school. I did search some facts for being a veterinarian just to see what they do and 1 fact was about that I would have to be prepare for the problems that will encounter in my life as a vet, the second one was saying to be a vet I would have to make sure that when I’m caring a pet I would have to wash my hands before and after caring the pet, so that the pet won’t get any infection, including the tools. For me to get ready to be a veterinarian and to become one I would have to be taking science classes and learn about animals. Also, I would need to take english classes and practice speaking clearly and write clearly like notes so that I will be able to explain things to the animal owners about the problems, medication, and health care when I am a vet. I think and know that this career would be a perfect thing for me because I care about animals and love them, yes it will take about 4 years, maybe more to do this awesome career . Money may be a little or lots but it doesn't matter to me that much, all I want to do is work with animals and study them. I can say I will be an…
