The video regarding decisions made by Xerox CEO Anne Mulcahy discussed choices made by her to save the company. Within 5 years of being at Xerox, Anne Mulcahy went from working in the sales department to opening the desk jet printer division. From there she moved up to President of Xerox and finally landed the position of CEO. At this time Xerox was on the verge of bankruptcy after being fined $10million by the FCC during an investigation of the companies accounting practices.
Anne was able to prevent Xerox from filing for bankruptcy by making decisions for the company that would have its positives and negatives. In the first year as

This included large color printers for companies being developed. The costs of using color printing are shown to be greater than those printers using black ink only. The use of these printers by large companies and low cost printing centers that were being built would increase sales and profit margins.
Managers are constantly making decisions which help them to develop in their role. Anne Mulcahy could have easily decided not to deal with angry shareholders, to have the company file for bankruptcy, and close the doors on Xerox for good. That is not the approach that she took though as a manager and CEO. She made the decision to move forward knowing that there was no certainty in her plan to work. She took risks, faced conflicts, and brought structure back to the company were it was needed. Anne Mulcahy showed she had the ability to make great managerial decisions and those decisions carried out all the

While there are always other avenues and decisions that could have been made, I find that she did the right thing. It is never easy to reduce staff and lay off employees. Especially when employees have been with the company long term or are an asset. However, her thinking of reducing jobs in areas that was not financially beneficial helped to save the company. By putting money into projects and development of newer needed products was an ideal decision as well. As the business economy continues to grow and blossom, so does the demand for updated devices used by businesses worldwide. I also agree that a manager who is often making decisions is a great manager.
By considering all the aspects of what need to be considered to make the best decision as a manager is the biggest issue to get positive results. Making these decisions based on things you can be certain of, that are worth the risk, have a structured plan, and a manager capable of implementing it all is how the best decisions are made. So don’t lose hope because it seems too hard to find a resolution. No, push forward as Anne Mulcahy did and be confident in your managerial

After watching the Xerox video and thinking about the characteristics for managerial decisions, made me have no envy for the CEO’s position. The typical characteristics of managerial decisions are lack of structure, uncertainty of risk, as well as conflict. In fact, the way the CEO obtained her position was full of uncertainty and I am sure there was conflict as well. The way the former CEO was forced out of office seemed to show a lack of structure with no contingency plan. There was a past scare of bankruptcy that may have future investors and employees questioning the structure of the company. The new CEO has made several positive moves for the company but is still forced to eliminate jobs to reduce costs.…

Moreover, managers should be able to be free of making decisions that are ideally in the best interest of the company regardless of being worried from the reactions of both the workers and the consumers. Generally speaking, both your life, career and companies or organizations depend on a hands on approach in making a decision (Career World, 1994). There are eight steps in the decision making process which includes, one, identifying the problem, two, identifying decision criteria, three, allocating weight to the criteria, four, develop alternatives, five, analyze alternatives, six, select an alternative, seven, implement the alternative, eight, evaluate decision effectiveness(Anderson,2012). With this in mind, good manager will have multiple plans so that if one plan falters, they are able to recover, especially, if it is at the interest of the company. Ideally, managers are…
