“Teaching the Vietnam War makes one realize how the shape of a narrative determines, and is determined by, its content”. The Vietnam War was one of America’s most controversial wars. Many of its aspects are still plagued with great uncertainty. Those aspects of the Vietnam War are argued and debated about, they were argued during the time of the war and the arguing has continued. The Vietnam War was indeed a time of confusion. Why did the war start? What was the United States’ real reason for getting involved? What was the objective of the war? What were the American soldiers really fighting, or in reality, dying for? How do you explain a war to someone who has not experienced firsthand, especially if you were not around yourself? There is no real answer. You can give the facts and figures, but that leaves out the true grit of a war. The human perspective must also be given. As with any war, the Vietnam War had many perspective: the protestors, the politician, and lastly, but most importantly, the soldier (Although there are many other stories that could and should be told). Through the facts and figures and the eyes of those who were there, an individual could learn about the Vietnam War, although how many actually want to understand war is uncertain.…

Nowadays, all people say that English is the most essential and easiest language that people could use to communicate in different countries. As I read thoroughly the two articles, which are called “ English seen as a Co-star among Global Language” and “Can English be Dethroned”, I’ve found out that people more commonly accept using English as a second language in the 21st century. We all understand the fact that English has been growing in popularity largely as economic globalization is getting bigger. The benefits of English as a common language for communication and interaction far outweigh any possible disadvantages that it might have. English is a global language not because the world shows respect to it by accepting it as a global language because it has the characteristics of a global language.…

As reading the play Emilie and the documentary. I saw the society of the time in my mind. I saw Emilie as this brilliant outsider and mind ahead of the times. Pre-revolution France was a period of Newton and Emilia thought profoundly and curiously. This quotes from pg. 40 “Like Newton’s God resetting the planets. An imperfect equation, that works for now.” Shows here spirit and drive. This scene is from when Emilia and Voltaire win an award from the academy from an article Emilia finished without telling Voltaire. Then, I considered during her debates, I considered how to set those French scientists and philosophers were in Newton thoughts. Then, I thought maybe because she was not increased to think. She was working to learn. The bias toward…
