Introduction The following research is on the Viking culture of the medieval era between the eighth to the eleventh centuries. The Viking influence spread over most of Europe, Northern Africa, and small parts of east Russia during this time period. There are several sources that shows the culture, activities, and religious beliefs of the Vikings. Even though they were mostly a non-literate people that produced no famous litterateur, they did create an alphabet and described their history and beliefs on runestones. There were many types of Viking ships, built for various purposes, the most known style is the longship (Figure 2). Longships were built for war and exploring waterways, they were designed to be fast and agile, and were fitted with oars to enhance the sail, making navigation possible without the use of the wind. The longship was built with a long, narrow hull and a shallow floor to enable landings and set warrior locations in shallow water. Ships was a key part of the Viking culture. They enabled everyday transportation across waterways of various sizes, land exploration, raiding of enemy territory, and trading of neighboring cultures. They also had an important religious purpose. People with high social status, such as Jarls and some Karls, were sometimes buried in a ship with animal and slave sacrifices, their weapons and other personal items2.( Figure
