Violent Crimes Of Child Soldiers
When wars start soldiers are needed. Some people consider soldiers to be criminals because they kill people, but what if that soldier was a child? In many countries when wars start not only the adults are affected, but also the children. In many situations the child’s family is killed by soldiers on the other side. Children often volunteer to join the fighting and become child soldiers. Would that make them criminals or victims? I think that child soldiers are victims of war not war criminals they are often forced to join and threatened if they don’t. Joining the army could be the only way for a child to avoid starvation and being isolated with your family dead and no one to go to the options to survive are very limited. in situations where someone is close to death they often do things they usually wouldn't do to survive and to be a child whose alone, homeless, and hungry would be very scary, so fighting was their only way of staying alive because it was either kill or be killed. It’s true that child soldiers often are ordered to and actually do commit abuses against their own family and that they basically their own families just because they were ordered to. The thing people don’t really point out is that they’re often threatened and sometimes when you’re forced to choose between your family and your life it’s not always an easy decision especially for a child. I believe that child soldiers are victims of war. They often join to fend off starvation, get shelter and not be isolated. When someone’s that close to death with nowhere to go, often joining the war is the only way to survive. Also when they’re fighting it’s either kill or be killed so in order to survive they have to kill
