The purpose of this study was to find the triggers for psychopathic traits of violent offenders. There were several different scales used in this data collection.
At each interview a version of the Self Report of Offending, or SRO, scale was used. It measured the subject’s involvement in eight different violent crimes. The scale was measured by the past 12 months of the subject. The data collected from the
SRO was labeled as “Self-Reported Violent Offending.” Meaning the subject reported that they were involved in such crimes.
The Exposure to Violence Inventory, or ETV, assessed the frequency to violent events in the subject’s life.
The Psychopathic Traits were assessed with the YPI, or Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory. This scale measured in three categories. The first was Callous or Unemotional Traits. The second was Impulsivity or Irresponsibility Traits. The third category was the Grandiosity or Manipulativeness traits.
The Risk Factor Covariates which consists of school dropouts, early problems before age 11, intelligence, impulse control, family arrests, peer deviance, and neighborhood conditions.
