Violet in one of the two main character in this novel. She was one of the most popular students and cheerleaders at her school. Unlike herself absorbed friends, she was thoughtful creative and well read. She offers like to quote Virgina Woods, an author. She created and managed a successful website alongside her older sister. She even had ambitions to go to NYU to peruse her love for writing. This all went down the drain after a car accident which she lost her sister Eleanor. When she lost her sister, she had also lost her identity. Her new identity was the surviving sister and she was often pitied for it. There forward, she became more preserved and preferred not to seek attention.
Finch-
Finch is the other main character in this novel. Finch is an artistic and talented person. He writes, plays guitar. Finch was a "Bartlett legend"-Violet; everyone knew about him. He was known as a free soul but this is far from the truth. In reality, Finch is an extremely troubled teen. He was diagnosed with the mental disorder called Bi Polar; but he refuses to accept his because he refuses to be labeled as "freak" or "crazy". His sickness has depressive episodes as he describes as being "awake" or "asleep". On top of that he has it tough at home. His mother is oblivious of anything that goes on in his life and he has a very abusive father who he only sees occasionally. Finch is constantly contemplating suicide. …show more content…
