I always tried to follow the authoritative style. With authoritative the ideal is to be high in demand but also high in responsiveness. Basically, I set high reasonable rules and Roman knows why I have them. I respond and am engaged with my child and being willing to compromise. This also would mean that is Roman is to break my rules then I will have a conversation as to why but also provide a punishment to learn from. For example, with Roman one time I found a few beer cans in the car after Roman used it one night. There was a rule to have no drinking and driving, so Roman and I had a conservation about it and he was grounded from his car for a week. Roman also learned from this as the next time he was drinking he called me for a ride home instead. Children with authoritative parents tend to be independent, creative, self-assured, and socially skilled. Roman was all of these characteristics even if shy he knew how to communicate with people when needed. With this parenting style I am open to my son but also strict. By the time he was eighteen we had a very good relationship and could share many things such as, stories, political views, and religion views,
