I have got a chance to visit court on 2, January 2014 with my group members Biagio Mauri for our law assignment. This is the first time of my life visiting to court and we went to magistrate court around 1pm. That court is located in 363 George Street Brisbane QLD 4001, opening and closing hours is 8:30-4:30. When we arrived infront of the court I feel alittle nervous because I have never been to any court. My group members asked me to turn off all of my electronic devices. In entrance there are some sign of no food /drink and turn off electronic devices. I stepped into the entrance and the first thing I see is security woman with desk in front of the court. She was friendly and asked us to step back to x-ray machines which is use in airport or any other security check .Then she asked us to come one by one, so that my group member would go first and I was waiting him outside of the entrance. After she checked my group member’s bag with metal detectors as she asked me to come in and she did the same way.
After security check, we ahead to information counter and we saw some people were asking about the court room that related to their cases. So we qued for a little while and we got reach our trun.My group member requested to receptionist that we are student doing law assignment and which room we need to go.Then she said room 36 is just started and pointed us to get there.I felt so excited to get into the room as I saw auto double door to get into the room.I became noticed everyone is quiet and we took chair in last place.Although I knew that I need to be quiet but my group member remind me to be quiet. After we sat down,I started to discover the circumstances. There were few people sitting with us.The name of the judge was Carmody T and he looked greate on his formal black suit with the white collar. His place was the highest positon of the room and he was sitting. At the second positon, I saw a typist women and she was typing about the case.At the last positon I saw

There are a number of individuals who make up the courtroom personnel. Each individual whether it be the judge, bailiff, court reporter, courtroom clerk, prosecutor, defense counsel, jury, defendant, or witness contribute to the shaping of legal law. The judge who presides over the trial has the ultimate authority in the courtroom. “The judge must see that the trail is conducted in an orderly manner according to prescribed rules and laws covering the selection of the jury, the presentation of evidence, the arguments of the lawyers, the instructions to the jury, and the rending of the verdict” (Arizona Judicial Branch, 2013, para. 1). Although the judge has the ultimate authority in the courtroom the bailiff is tasked with keeping order during trial or hearings. The bailiff announces entry of the judge, supervises the jury, and calls witnesses…

    Mock Trial

Mock Trial was a great experience for me since it was my first time doing it in my life. My role was an officer called, Officer Low. Officer Low has been on the local police force for eight and a half years. I think my role was not easy because I had to memorize all my lines in order to answer the lawyer’s question. Also, I had to know where the offender Wally Brogue was standing and where the radio, beer and marijuana were on the diagram of David Benning’s and Sara Volsky’s apartment. Plus, I had to be careful and think a lot before I answered the lawyers question because any mistake is a problem. I realized that the lawyers are picky and tricky. For instance, when I told Mr. Allen that the .06 alcohol in his blood is above the limit, he told me it was.08 and back then it was .08 but now it is .05. Therefore, I mistaken and I felt really ashamed because I should know that since I’m an officer. Also, when Mr. Allen asked to question me on the second day of the trail, he started saying, “Yesterday you did not say that Sandra Volsky’s told you that that the assailant might be still in the building.” I am sure I did. However, I did enjoy my role because I always wanted to witness something since I was young. I feel like when I witness an offender I help the court identify if the person is guilty or not. When the lawyers interviewed me, I was told to not mention few things unless the other lawyers ask about it. Also, the crown lawyers warned me to not lie and to be honest and just answer the question without giving much detail because they wanted to use a things to argue it lot of .I thought Sandra Volsky did will on her role because she gave right evidences and she tried to proof that Brogue killed David. She also seemed sad about her boyfriend’s death and looked innocent. Wally Brogue did a good job offending himself and I liked his enthusiasm during the trial. For example, Wally was laughing and said to the lawyer twice, “Do you think I read people’s mind?”…

I handed Sgt. Daves a pair of gloves and set the boxes down on the floor for anyone else that needed them. Sgt. Daves was asking for someone to retrieve a mat because the inmate was lying face down and was continuing to bang his head on the concrete floor. I worked my way past them carefully to get a mat around the corner and brought it back placing it underneath his face. I went back around the corner to get the nurse from medical area and he was already walking through the door to come to check on the inmate. I got down onto my knees and assisted by holding his head and we began discussing rolling him over onto his back. We carefully rolled him over onto his back so that the nurse could assess his head injury and decide if he would need to go to the hospital for further treatment. I began to talk to inmate Chad Fields asking him why he was banging his head onto the floor. He responded saying that the voices were telling him to do it, his children had been killed by the sheriff and he wanted to go to be in heaven with his children. I asked him if he ever drank alcohol, he said “no”. I told him that he could relax his head in my hands, the nurse was back with some water to rinse his wound so that he could take a better look at…
