The democracy states that,”All men are created equal.” All though that many people don't believe that this statement is being followed right now. My hope for the future is that we learn from history, stand as one nation and have pride in our country.
In the past our country has been divided by slavery and war. We have been through the great depression and 9/11. There have been many times where the country could have been torn apart, but we have over come with great triumph. Many people have given up their lives in the battles to protect the great American freedom. My next hope for the future is that we stand as one nation.
In our country right now there are many mixed feelings
about kneeling for the national anthem, black lives matter protest, and simple things like discrimination on twitter. Kneeling for the national anthem has very many mixed feelings. The kneeling started about the end of the 2016 NFL season when unexpectedly Colin Kaepernick (of the San Francisco Forty-Niners) knelt for the National Anthem. Kneeling during the National Anthem began as a protest and in support of civil liberties. It escalated with one sector in support of protesting and another viewing the kneeling as a disrespect to our flag and the veterans who have fought for our freedoms. Black Lives Matter is an activist movement that campaigns against violence and racism towards black people. BLM regularly held protests against police killings of black people and broader issues of racial profiling, police brutality, and racial inequality in the United States criminal justice system. The means of the BLM protest also divided our nation. In the future we need to come together as a country and focus on fixing these problems. Finally we need to show more pride of living in the U.S.A.
Living in the U.S.A is an honor that many people take for granted. People disrespect the our freedoms and our veterans by kneeling and protesting the American flag, but they need to just stand back and take a look at how far we have come. From the battles of the American Revolution to the civil war, America defied the odds and came out strong. In the future I hope that our country can go back from where we came from and remember the great liberty and hope that our forefathers created.
