POST LAB QUESTIONS
1. Explain how the ecosystem was affected by the missing species for each round of the demonstration.
a. Round 1 = Without humans then all progress cease to exist and everything will go in reverse. Humans run pretty much everything and if we just eliminated humans then only nature exists.
b. Round 2 = Speaking just for this lab, without flowers then the bees will lose a vital food source as they collect nectar and pollen.
c. Round 3 = Again speaking for this lab, the bees cannot pollinate from the flowers or trees.
d. Round 4 = N/A
2. Provide one action we as humans engage in that leads to the extinction of each of these components.
Action affecting Lichens =
Action affecting Trees = We are consistently chopping down trees to build new infrastructure without growing them back. I believe we will eventually run out of trees and have to use another main source for oxygen.
Action affecting Flowers = Same thing as with trees, we build on land which requires us to clear the area which includes flowers.
Action affecting Bees = As stated above, we clear land to remove flowers which removes a main food source for bees when they pollinate. Without a food source, they either need to adapt or go extinct.
3. Provide three specific actions that humans can take to minimize our impact on the ecosystem and ensure the survival of lichens, trees, flowers, and bees.
Action 1 = Reduce pollution as said many times by experts but nothing is really being done.
Action 2 = Put a plan to use in reducing pollution. There are fossil fuels and we can still plant trees and flowers.
Action 3 = Spread this plan and put it to use. People are doing small things like recycling but not enough are doing this. I hardly see proper recycling and there is nothing to
