On May 27, 2015 Obama administration issued a new rule, under the Clean Water Act, to protect the nation’s water resources such as wetlands and streams for benefiting safe and clean drinking water and to protect from pollution and degradation.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Army Corps of Engineers issued The Water of United States (WOTUS) rule that aims to protect water sources that flow to drinking water unit to be clean irrespective of any climate change. And the rule will mainly dependent on the latest technology and by public response for greater precision, stability and making the result less expensive and effortless.
EPA and the Army corps are responsible to produce clarity listing of all the water bodies of their jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act that was first passed in 1972. But farmers of America opposed the new rule as they fear of risks of discharging fertilizers or manures into ditches and drainage areas without a permit under the Clean Water Act.
