1) Identification of problem.
The problem identified in this case is, the lack of coordination and understanding between Becharbhai and his newly recruited juniors, because of their different mode of learning. Becharbhai had learnt the trade without any formal education, whereas the juniors were educated.
2) Establishment of the problem.
The problem of can be well established by the descriptions given by Ismail. He pointed out that the problems started when some educated young men were recruited. Becharbhai could not adjust himself to the new ideas and modern methods. Firstly he started complaining about the small things to which Ismail could not give due consideration because of his time constraints, and asked him to solve such problems by persuasion. Becharbhai slowly, started losing interest in his job. As the time passed by, incidents of discord between Becharbhai, and Pathan, a new recruit, started to surface with both of them blaming each other. Then there came a final incident, wherein Becharbhai ordered the recruits to do some work, and they refused as it was too hard. In the end Becharbhai himself did that work. After this he resigned with a heavy heart, saying that he thinks that there is no place for him in the new set up.
3) Objective related to the problem.
The objectives related to the problem are:
Short term: Trying to end the discord between Becharbhai and the new junior recruits.
Long term: To create an healthy work environment where proper hierarchy and chain of command exists.
4) Generation of alternatives:
To overcome the given problems following alternatives may be used:
Create and implement a good grievance redressal system in the organization so that a complaint may be registered and action can be taken upon it in a given time.
