The first component of Wal-Mart is business commerce. Business commerce is when Wal-Mart exchange good and services with other businesses. For example, Wal-Mart has a hair salon service; I love to get my hair done every other week. Also, many Wal-Marts provide banking services and some fast food services. Wal-Mart has stock trades also. Another main component of Wal-Mart is business occupation. Business occupation is the acquired set of specialized skills and abilities that allows Wal-Mart to create valuable goods and services. When my husband started at Wal-Mart he had to undergo several trainings to ensure that he understands the business and also that he provides customers with excellent services. Wal-Mart provides thorough training to its employees so that they can keep the customers coming back. Customers always value great customer service. I think this is one way Wal-Mart remains ahead of its competitors. The last main component of Wal-Mart is business organization. Business organization is the system of task and authority relationship which coordinates and controls the interactions between people so that they work toward a common goal. Wal-Mart’s common goal is to provide low prices. They try to provide lower prices than their competitors. They are about saving their customers money. They have reduced the costs of their retail and other products in the store. There are many Wal-Marts around the world and they provide the same services in all of them. I love Wal-Mart and I agree that they have prices lower than many other retailers. I definitely agree with their slogan, it is so true. “Save money, Live better”.…

The first Wal-Mart store was opened in Rogers Arkansas in the Year 1962. From Wal-Mart’s company website a common misconception people have in regards to discount retailing is put to rest. That being this was the year it all started, When Kmart, Target, and Wal-Mart first opened. In actuality however, the chain of variety stores Sam Walton owned during the 1950’s faced stiff competition for many regional discount stores. In 1972, Wal-Mart stock was offered for the first time on the New York Stock Exchange. With this infusion of capital, the company grew to 276 stores in 11 states by the end of the decade. Also from the company’s official website, it is important to note that in 1983 the first Sam’s Club members-warehouse store opened. Nowadays when a person is in need of some groceries, or even clothes, instead of making multiple stops at diffrent outlets they visit their nearest Walmart. There are many opinions on how Walmart has impacted America in various ways. One of the most popular contreversary is its effect on the economy. "Walmart does more for the average american than any other company" (Ray Bracy, Troy 1 ). The quality jobs that come with a Wal-Mart store provide employment and income to the members of the local community. A small retailer is most likely a family run business offering only a few jobs with little upward growth for those employees. In comparison, a single Wal-Mart store may offer around five hundred jobs. While most of the jobs are low wage jobs, Wal-Mart is not much different that other retailers (De Coster and Edmonds 632). However, those jobs at Wal-Mart come with competitive wages and comparable benefit packages to other retail businesses. With over a million employees, a motivated Wal-Mart employee has many opportunities for job growth within the department, store, and corporation. Working a low level job at Wal-Mart will…
With over 5,300 stores in the United States, Wal-Mart has become one of the fastest growing retail chains in the United States (Rossi, 2005). Their many stores are not hard to find as you travel along many of the highways in the United States. As the largest retailer in history, it’s no surprise that Walmart is the target of both vicious attacks and effusive praise. According to its own website, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. operates more than 8,000 stores, employs more than 2.1 million people, and sells more than $400 billion worth of goods in every year. Though this bulk intimidates those who fear for the viability of “mom and pop” retailers, Walmart’s great strength is that it devotes its considerable power to American consumers. Its size enables it to provide services that other retailers cannot, and it has deservedly become an integral part of the modern American economy.…
Walmart has various amounts if items that our small local stores do not have and they even price match. Although Wal-Mart has been criticized for low wages and running other businesses out of business they still remain on top. One of the biggest reasons that Wal-Mart is a beneficial company towards America is that the store offers large variety. The store sells everything from clothes to electronics and food. Many customers flock to Wal-Mart because they are able to save time in their busy lives. The average adult spends 400 hours a year shopping (http://www.factmonster.com). Instead of shopping for groceries, electronics, toys and clothes in different stores, customers will just be able to shop at the same place. Much more time can be saved to do other activities during the day.…
For as long as I can remember I have seen Wal-mart stores up in almost in every town that I have traveled through. The store started by Sam Walton was first established in Bentonville, Arkansas in 1962. Now Wal-mart has over 3,300 stores nationwide and they are the leading retail store in the country. With Wal-mart competing with Target and K-mart hold over 85 percent of the discount store market share. Although Sam Walton has passed on Wal-Mart has continued to stay successful and maintain at the top of the retail market. A new CEO took over and he has continued to maintain as the largest corporation in the nation. "Wal-mart has two objectives that they focus on: 1) Providing the customers what they want, when they want it, all at a value 2) treating each other as we would hope to be treated, acknowledging our total dependency on our…
One reason Wal-Mart is such a beneficial establishment is that it provides jobs to those who otherwise might have a hard time finding a job. Some people who fall into this category are single mothers trying to enter the workplace, high school dropouts, and high school kids trying to get some first job experience. In the workforce, especially today, employers are less and less willing to hire just anyone. Employers want someone who has a good deal of experience even for the most menial of jobs. Running a cash register is not that difficult of a task, and almost anyone can do that, likewise with stocking shelves. Therefore, Wal-Mart is an ideal place for people who do not have a vast skill set.…
I believe Walmart is a very successful company from a business standpoint. The company is the world's third largest public corporation list in 2012, the biggest private employer in the world with over two million employees, and is the largest retailer in the world. It has 8,500 stores in 15 countries and is the largest and most profitable retailer in the United States. However, from a moral standpoint Walmart may not be as successful as many may think. It has violated many human rights in some of its third world countries, as depicted in the film “Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price.”…
