At first the movie showed a family following the norms of society by farming. Then all of a sudden the people of the city had to go to war because of their country. This caused many of the people to start enlisting, and caused families to start selling their useful things such as horses to the army to start preparing for the war. These things were actually what people truly experienced at the beginning of war and the movie did a good job explaining that. We also see the movie depict some realistic events that would have actually occurred in war. Such as combat fighting and people being forced to go fight by their generals. They movie also shows how armies would go through living quarters and take whatever they want from any households. All these things reflected what genuinely happened in reality. However, there was a part in the movie which seemed to good to be true. Such as when the boy sold his horse to the army and found him again on the war field after 2 or 3 years. This scene felt way to unrealistic because realistically all the animals were worked to death and had no survival chances. It is important that the movie was largely realistic because it helps people picture how war actually was. Without films like these we would not be able to imagine how it truly looked. This movie also helps show how life in the past was by showing how people would live and how it would be like with war. However, it also shows the present by showing how people would have cars and how they would try to
