It would be nice if there is space under the stove to store BOTH cylinders. But, my kitchen cabinet was not designed for this.

So, for some time, I observed how my helper, strong though she is, had to struggle to get that hunk of the second cylinder into the kitchen from the outside, where the gas delivery man had left it. My helper was not complaining. I know she would not until she breaks a vertebra trying to drag that cylinder into place! I offered to fix it, the problem, that is, before it breaks any bones!

She was delighted at my thoughtfulness. I had to get the carpenter to come in and make some modifications to the compartment next to the one that houses the current cylinder. I had hitherto happily used this compartment to store rice and cooking oil. It was, of course, not easy giving up that massive storage space - I had to find alternative accommodation for the rice and oil! But, with this change, my helper was glad to kiss good-bye to her monthly chore of transporting the massive gas cylinder from outside the kitchen into the kitchen!

Although Michael’s attention varied in reading, he had a 100% attention span in the other areas of observation. For example, during the three Art periods, the introduction to the Freedom Quilt Blocks was new content that challenged his thinking. After giving the instructions on how to complete the worksheet pages, the first example of modeling a small block and replicating it on the bigger block stumped him. Michael turned to his peer and asked, “What…

    • 912 Words

Everyday that we wake up we use system 1 and system 2 thinking just to get our day started. There are clear differences between the two types of thinking and when we are dealing with system 1 by itself we tend to be dealing with situations where we need to be fast and quick on our feet to come up the answers or reactions that we need. System 1 is defined as “operates automatically and quickly, with little or no effort and no sense of voluntary control” (Kahneman, 2008). So when I think of system one thinking I think of everyday task that I do to get myself through the day, for an example when I am brushing my teeth I don’t have to think very hard and long about where I need to put the toothpaste or how to brush my teeth.…
