Tsotsi is not guilty, people believe that Tsotsi was responsible for the murder of Gumboot but he indeed …show more content…
wasn't. Butcher was instead responsible for Gumboot’s murder as he was the one who stabbed Gumboot with the spoke. It would be really unfair for someone to go to prison for a crime that they did not commit;, therefore, Tsotsi should not go jail if did not kill Gumboot. Furthermore Tsotsi did not plan the murder of Gumboot Dhalmini. Tsotsi never said or agreed on killing anybody on the train he just said let’s take one on the train, this is not evidence to say that he plan the murder.
To continue Apartheid should be blame for Tsotsi’s actions.
On page 151 the author states that Tsotsi’s mother was taken away from him because she did not have her pass, but before leaving she told Tsotsi not to go anywhere because she was going to come back. At one point Tsotsi thought it was his mother at the door knocking but instead it was his father when he realized this he ran to yard where he saw he saw his dad beat his dog to death. The fact the that his mother was taken away from him at such early age cause him issues, also he ran away from home and got into a gang and the gang treated him like family. What have happen cause Tsotsi to be traumatized. For example when Boston kept asking Tsotsi basic questions that he could not answer it really got to his head so he had no other choice but to beat up Boston to a point where Boston couldn’t get off the floor, after doing this Tsotsi ran away until he made a stop at corner and right there he started hearing Boston voice inside of him even if Boston wasn’t there so he started shaking his head so Boston can go away. In other words s Tsotsi needs counseling if he is hearing voices in his
head.
Instead of Tsotsi being in jail he should instead attend a job training program that could teach different ways he could get a job and be productive although it would be hard since he is a South African of color. According to President Obama a large percentage of prisoners who get out of jail can commit more crimes once they get out and go back to their old environment( http://www.shallownation.com/shop/ )If Tsotsi goes to jail and comes out and does not get training for the conditions he have he’s more likely to commit another crime. Tsotsi should also receive counseling he needs someone to express what he is going through.
In conclusion Tsotsi is not guilty and deserves a second chance if complying with conditions
.
