Washington Week Summary
In this episode of Washington Week we watch as Susan Davis, Alexis Simendinger, Michael Duffy, and John Harwood discuss the issue of how Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz use Donald Trump as a punching bag in the last Republican debate and if it altered Trump's campaign indefinitely. In the beginning of this episode we see how Trump, Rubio, and Cruz battle each other to prove who would be a better president, however Cruz and Rubio were prepared to team up and bombard Trump with child like arguments. This week, the two men who finished first and second in New Hampshire offered the tale of two Republican parties. This can be seen as an attack on front runner Jeb Bush, who is expected to announce record breaking fundraising totals in the next quarter. Our Fight to Save America from Washington” in which Perry announced that “Americans were tired of being bossed around” and being told “how much salt we can put on our food, what windows we can buy for our house and what kind of cars we can drive. “As a result of these statements Rick Perry has taken a sour defeat by throwing in the towel on the Republican race, leaving everything to the remaining four candidates. As Rick’s claims in his farewell address “We have a tremendous field of candidates, probably the greatest group of men and women, I step aside, knowing our party is in good hands, as long as we listen to the grass roots, listen to the cause of conservatism.” Likewise Collins supports her argument with the use of personal quotes as well as ironic humor to establish Perry’s awful leadership as well as lacking presidential skills to the voting public. Although the primary purpose was to alternate the sensible, patriotic governor aspect of the truly underhanded overemphasized view above all her true aim was to imprint a sense of distrust in all political opinions especially those of Rick…

In November, after Ron Paul established himself as a top-tier candidate and had been consistently polling well in Iowa and New Hampshire, CBS allotted Ron Paul 89 seconds of speaking time during its debate. The debate focused on foreign policy and national security. His campaign issued a statement saying Ron Paul was treated unfairly. Not only is Ron Paul a veteran, but he also serves on the House Foreign Relations Committee. His campaign stated, “Congressman Paul was only allocated 90 seconds of speaking in one televised hour. If we are to have an authentic national conversation on issues such as security and defense, we can and must do better to ensure that all voices are heard.” CBS is not the only network that has skewed coverage of each candidate. Ron Paul consistently receives less time than the “establishment favorites” in almost every…
