watching tv is a waste of time ?
Nowadays, television has become a major part of our lives. Almost every home has a television. In fact, even restaurants, grocery shop, clinics and also mamak stores have televisions as a way to attract customers. We are now a television nation but this is not something that we should be proud of because television is not a vital necessity in our lives. Furthermore, too much television is eating our life away.
-Watching television is a waste of time. When we watch television, we give it our visual and audio attention and there is very little we can do while watching television. We may enjoy a snack or two but that only ad up to the television does not allow us to do something else beneficial. A huge percentage of adolescents have started developing unhealthy habits in front of the television. Watching T.V. can really pack on the pounds when exercising is seldom and snacking is often. It has been proven that the more time a person spends sitting in life, the sooner they are going to die. Being active is one of the most important necessities of a person’s body; and why would someone want to abuse their bodies by obsessive T.V. watching? More time should be spent experiencing the great outdoors and developing real life friendships.
-Television is a waste of time and it’s slowly corrupting the minds of our youth. It can encourage teen violence, sex, drugs, inappropriate language, and bullying. Unhealthy lifestyles and low social skills are also a negative affect from T.V. The time spent watching television should be a small limited amount of time and more time should be spent outside and interacting with people. Some of the shows that teenagers decide to watch are very negative and destructive to the mind. Dramas can put extra stress on the shoulders of our youth, and teens live with enough stress in their lives as it is. Teen minds are like sponges, they soak up their environment and act like the influences they are around. More kids are put through bullying today

The beliefs of television have powerful influences on the United States’ culture. It is used as a purpose for entertaining oneself or passing time for most American adults and children. Some people use television as a media source to know what is happening in the local area and around the world. A major belief for many Americans is that television is the main object in the typical American home. We all face our furniture towards the television and act like it is a shrine by placing expensive things around it. We believe that bigger is better and this all reflects in our social class. We spend many hours per week in front of it gazing at it and listening to its content. For most people it is addictive and distractive, yet most homes have at least one television.…

Television is just another part of technology keeping us from viewing the world and living our lives as we should. Instead of coming out of our house and taking on any challenge the world might have for us, we easily give up to our laziness, which quickly makes us grab the bag of chips, the soda, and sit down. Even though I am one of the many people who just loves to have the remote by their side, I strongly believe that television is nothing but detrimental to our society.…

Television has dulled the mind of the average teen, and this is because they are used to having their information passed to them through the media, or “Google”. Also, many teens do not like to read because it involves too much concentration. My sister hates to read, not only because there are words involved that she might have to actually look, but also because it is almost impossible for her to visualize the world described within the book. Television presents the world to her, a different world every thirty minutes, which holds her attention. This now leaves her no mental work to do, except to decide which channel she would like to watch. Because watching television requires no mental work, the brains of young adults that watch exorbitant amounts of television are not stimulated enough. This may lead to decline in ability to focus on real-life…

Television can have negative impacts on people, especially kids. People learn new skills by observing, then utilizing it, such as when we were kids and learn to walk by seeing our family walking around or learning a new subject in school. Therefore, when watching television it may influence our fundamental social dispositions; no matter if it is good or bad. Almost ninety nice percent of households possess one television. Television is today’s source of news, stories, legends, and characters from previous centuries; the reason why it is so influential. However, only “0.7 percent is used for public service announcements and news”(Sex, violence, profanity...). The other 97.3 % consists of television shows with violence, crime, advertisements and mainstream blandness. Many studies and research has been done to demonstrate that heavy television viewing may lead to serious health consequences. TV corrupts our children. Jerome Singer once said, “If you came and saw a strange man teaching your kids to punch each other, or trying to sell them all kind of products, you’d kick him right out of the house, but here you are; you come in and the TV is on, and you don’t think twice about it.” He is correct; entertainment television is an especially bad influence on children for many reasons, including not enough control on violence. These things are quite literally ruining America by corrupting our next generation’s leaders, our children.…
