This especially, causes students to irritate Melinda if she is shy and by herself in the front row: “A guy behind me unwraps his breakfast and shoots a wrapper at the back of my head” (Anderson pg.3). In addition, this supports how people are unaware of the situation that Melinda is in and are going to pick on her because she is shy and sitting with no one. On the contrast, Melinda is not shy really shy and it is just she does not want to sit with strangers instead wants to sit and talk with friends. However, she can not find any of them which is causing Melinda to look bashful because she is sitting by all alone. In conclusion, how Melinda looks and how she actually feels is quite different because on the outside students are just seeing another student in tr front row and possible thinking that she is shy because she is sitting in the front row. Where is the perfect seat? Is it near the front so that the screen fills your visual field? Is it in the back so that in the dark the screen is at a natural height for the eyes? Or is it in the center of the movie theater where the speakers are at the perfect distance to optimize the sound? Only the very first person to enter an empty theater has the opportunity to make a seating decision based solely on visual and sound preferences. Every person entering the theater thereafter is subject not only to their own theater experience preferences but more importantly by the seating selections of all the people already seated.…

Position can create a barrier on recieveing an interpreting messages which inhibit communication. If we cannot see eachother then it will inhibit communication. In a care setting it is important to keep our eyes at the same level as the person that we are communicating with. But it is important to consider positioning while working with different people having different difficulties. For example in an early year setting children look at our facial expression and listen to our tone of voice to understand us and elderly care setting, people having hearing difficulties can read our lips to understand us. Seating patterns send different messages. While having a group communication its important to have appropriate positioning as it influences how a group works. When communicating with a group it is important to be stood up in front of the group so they can all see you and it is important to make eye contact with all of the group and not just focus on one person otherwise ,the rest of the group will lose interest.…

Today I am here to express my opinion on how can FBLA (future business leaders of America) can strengthen the confidence of students, in themselves and their work. Being a part of FBLA you will find out that there are many achievements and goals that we students will want to set and reach for. While reaching these goals that students in this program set, it’s also teaching us how to become better leaders of business. I feel without confidence you cannot get anywhere in life, no one will take you seriously and the world needs us to take charge. That’s why I strongly feel we, as students, have to have confidence in ourselves and our work.…

All of us have the potential to live and act courageously, if we can push through our own fears. Most of us have learned fears that limit our comfort zones and stand in the way of being our best and accomplishing our goals. We have been conditioned to follow the rules, not rock the boat, to go along with things we feel are wrong so others will like and accept us. There are a number of ways people can unlock the courage within themselves, including committing to causes they believe in, connecting with others, welcoming failure as a natural and beneficial part of life, and harnessing anger.…

For a lot of my life I have felt introverted and quiet. I don’t like attention called onto me. Taking time off after Oregon helped me to realize that much of that wasn’t because I was a shy person- it was because I was holding myself back from who I want to be due to a lack of personal self-confidence. This semester I have chosen to take a vocal class in which I will have to perform in front of other- a thought that quite frightens me actually. But singing is something that I like to do when I am alone, so I thought maybe singing in front of other would be a good challenge for me and help me to gain that confidence.…

When I was in tenth-grade chemistry class at YUHS/Central in Manhattan (I am dating myself since it moved to Queens some time ago), I was seated toward the rear of a lecture hall. Before that time, my classes were generally small, and I always happened upon a front seat. I was one of those kids who enjoyed participating in class, and surely always enjoyed being right in the front of the room. So I guess until tenth grade I was able to compensate for not seeing too clearly.…
